Message from the Executive Director
Liebe TCGIS Gemeinschaft / Dear TCGIS Community,
Wilkommen ins zweite Semester! We are halfway through the year and are looking forward to the myriad of TCGIS highlights. We will celebrate the 100 days of Kindergarten and our Festival of Cultures in February. We will begin to prepare our 4th graders for the transition to middle school. And our middle school students have a new sport season, Concordia Language Villages and our German Exchange trip to look forward to.
We also welcomed a new group of Spring Interns. The intern program is one of the things that makes TCGIS truly unique. These future teachers add to our community by bringing their expertise, their dialects and their language, their culture and their many individual gifts. Shout out to Nina Maslofski and Claudia Mueller for their work to prepare them for this experience. Tausend Dank to the TCGIS families who are hosting them. If you are interested in hosting an intern next year, reach out to Claudia Müller.

Re-Enrollment Survey for All Current TCGIS Families
Help us prepare for the 2025-2026 school year by completing our re-enrollment survey! Please click here to fill out the survey by March 14th. If you have more than one student at TCGIS, please submit the form individually for each child in your family who is currently in grades K-7.
Filling out this form is not required in order to attend TCGIS next year but it is extremely helpful for the school. We gather information about returning and withdrawing students to plan our class compositions for the next year. We appreciate your participation; thank you in advance!

Send Record Requests to Enrollment@tcgis.org
At this time of year, TCGIS starts to receive requests for records of 8th graders and other students who may be considering transferring. If you are applying to a new school for next year, please let the registrar know to send their records requests to enrollment@tcgis.org to ensure timely processing of the request.
CatStronauts and Pizza NEXT WEEK!
On Tuesday, February 11th from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM in the TCGIS Cafeteria, local author Drew Brockington (Catstronauts, Waffles & Pancake) will teach us how a graphic novel is created, how doodles can inspire stories, and how to make our own graphic novels. He will teach us how to draw a character, and we get to ask questions and get our books signed! He will sell books on site after the event. Bring drawing paper and pencils and prepare for fun. Our PTO will provide pizza. Learn more and sign-up for the event.

Spring Session Enrichment Classes - Seeking Class Leaders!
Consider this an invitation to think about leading an after school Enrichment Class this spring! Staff and parents have led classes and clubs of all sorts- there’s room for playful, thoughtful, academic, and silly activities. If you have an idea for a new after school activity or have questions about what leading one might involve, here are the details for the upcoming Spring session of enrichment classes:
- Enrichment Classes are led by grownups with an interest, hobby, or skill they want to share- you don’t need to be an expert, just interested.
- Each class will run from 3:30-4:30pm after school on your chosen day of the week.
- This session of enrichment classes will run from April 7th (the week immediately after Spring Break) through June 7th (the week before the last day of school) for a total of 9 weeks (PD days and holidays, etc. notwithstanding).
- Classes do not meet on no-school days (e.g, PD days, school holidays).
We are interested in all sorts of concepts for activities, and are extra interested in someone who can lead a chess club/class; if you enjoy chess and want to share it with TCGIS students after school, we would love to hear from you! If you have any questions about TCGIS Enrichment Classes, or if you would like to inquire about leading an Enrichment Class, please email Mangan to discuss.

Welcome our new Spring Interns | This week is the first week of our new spring interns. We have 11 interns this semester with two of them staying the whole year. All interns are staying in host families from our TCGIS community, which are opening their homes to make this internship possible - THANK YOU. This week interns are learning a lot of new things like meeting mentor teachers, students and TCGIS staff, learning TCGIS procedures and completing mandatory educator trainings and getting their social security card. We are excited about the German culture they will add to our classrooms and see them grow their teacher personality while being at TCGIS.
