Hundreds turn out for Guajardo Elementary dedication
It was a standing room only crowd Saturday in the former Northside cafeteria as speakers praised the dedicated service of longtime board member Manuel Guajardo, Jr. Mr. Guajardo served the community for 25 years on the Texas City ISD Board of Trustees and he also served for 12 years on the Texas Association of School Boards.
Board President Hal Biery said,
"Manuel was a solid fixture on the School Board. He was reliable and determined. He promoted fairness and equality for all students and teachers. When I think of another solid fixture in Texas City ISD, I think of Northside Elementary School. Northside has been known for excellence for nearly 60 years. Now the two will be forever joined as Northside will now be known as Manuel Guajardo, Jr. Elementary School."
