We are pleased to announce that The Children's Room has appointed four new members to our Board of Directors: Jonathan DeVito, Tim Gleason, Katie Gorczyca, and Courtney Silva.

"Our four new board members bring a wealth of professional experience and expertise in the fields of bereavement, information technology, clinical social work, and organizational effectiveness," said The Children's Room's Board President, Michael Nagle. "We are proud to welcome each of them to our Board, and I am confident that they will help us advance our work serving grieving children, teens, and families."
A Light in the Darkness:
On Grieving in the Winter

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."  ~ Desmond Tutu

It is often acknowledged that the holiday season can add many logistical and emotional burdens for those who are grieving. Less often acknowledged are the shifts in weather and light that happen as winter arrives and progresses. Here in New England, the days become not only colder, but also shorter and much darker, and these changes may have an effect on our mood, our behavior, and how we care for ourselves and our families as we grieve.

We offer our reflections and tips for grieving in winter months. We hope you find them helpful.
The Straub Family:
Committed to Hope
The Straub Family: Crissy, Solia, Sawyer, Saydee, and Ted

In the spirit of the season of giving,  we are proud to introduce you to The Straub Family, one of our many generous donors .

Crissy and Ted Straub have maintained a connection to The Children's Room since 2010, but recently their relationship with our organization has evolved in many meaningful ways. Along with her running partner, Malinda Dublin, Crissy has coached our "Miles & Memories" Boston Marathon team since 2015!

We are grateful to the Straub Family for being such stalwart supporters and for being a part of our special community.

Thank You To Everyone
Who Supported TCR on #GivingTuesday

Thank you to everyone who made this our most successful
 to date!

This year on Giving Tuesday we received 194 donations which totaled $30,675! You helped our  John Hancock Boston Marathon runners by giving them a brilliant start to their journey toward the finish line, and your donations will help grieving children, teens, and families find love, hope, and optimism through connections made at The Children's Room.

We also offer special thanks to all those who have made a year-end donation. Thank you for helping us create safe, supportive communities so that no child, teen, or family has to grieve alone.

Our Heartfelt Thanks

Thank you so much to  WinterWyman ! As part of their 25 Days of Giving campaign, we were honored that they selected us to receive a special donation of items from our wishlist. We received an incredible array of art supplies to help grieving children, teens, and families express themselves AND gift cards to our favorite places, which will help sustain us through the holidays and beyond.

Special thanks to Chelsey Puza for her visit, and thank you to the entire WinterWyman 25 Days of Giving Committee!

Birthday Donations

We are always using art supplies here at TCR. This month we had 2 generous donations of art supplies.

Evan, age 5, requested that all of his friends who came to his birthday party bring art materials that he could donate to The Children's Room.

The Tagliaferri Family made a gift of art supplies in memory of Bruno Tagliaferri on his birthday.

We are so grateful for their thoughtfulness!

Rosemary "Rosie" Gill

Warm thanks to  Rosemary "Rosie" Gill , Director of Education at Christopher Kimball's Milk Street Kitchen! We are so appreciative to Rosie for all of her  planning time, coordination, and facilitation of the teens for our recent TCR Teen Culinary Day at Milk Street. Special thanks, too, to Christopher Kimball himself for hosting our event and donating the use of his cooking school, staff time, ingredients, and materials for our teens.
