Memories That Move Us
Our 13th Annual Memories Walk

Phyllis Silverman's family (above left) was joined by our Board President Michael Nagle (top left), cofounders Judy Oliver
and Jean Marchant (center), and treasured volunteers.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday, October 23, and everyone who supported us for our 13th Annual Memories Walk!

The sun was bright, the sky was clear, and we felt a strong sense of community as we walked together up Mass. Ave. to celebrate TCR and to remember those in our lives who have died.

We dedicated this year's walk to the memory of one of our founders, Dr. Phyllis Silverman, whose groundbreaking work in the bereavement field lives on. It was a special honor that Phyllis's family  could join us for this year's Memories Walk.

TCR alum Katie Gorczyca
We send a big thank you to  TCR alum Katie Gorczyca
for sharing her poignant personal story during the opening remarks.

We simply could not do this vital work without the support of our entire community, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this year's event such a resounding success. Thanks to you, we were able to raise  over $85,000 to support the hope-giving programs of The Children's Room.

We were so grateful to share this wonderful day with so many of you.  Thank you for gathering with us in support of our mission to create safe, caring communities, so that no child, teen, or family has to grieve alone.

A Very Special Welcome to
Our  New Board President, Michael Nagle

We are proud to welcome Michael Nagle, a resident of Needham, to his new role as TCR Board President. As principal of the Michael Nagle Consulting Group, Michael possesses tremendous business acumen and leadership experience that supports our work in countless ways.

Please join us in celebrating Michael's new role!

Exciting News
Our Renovations Are Complete!

After a tremendous amount of hard work by many hands, we are proud to announce that the construction on our front porch and all of our other outdoor projects renovating and updating TCR are now complete!

We send a special thank you to:
  • Conneely Contracting, for all of their expertise and effort in rebuilding the porch. Over the years, Martin and Kerri Conneely have generously shared their talent, contributing more than $100,000 to The Children's Room!

 Warm thanks to:

  • Gayane and Tom EblingMaria Kussmaul, and the  Adelard A. Roy and Valdea Lea Roy Foundation for donating the funds to rebuild our front porch
  • A generous donor for all of our beautiful new signage and for donating the funds to paint the entire outside of our center
  • Program volunteer Alan Simpson, for his time, energy, and talent in hand-crafting our beautiful new wooden porch sign
  • Mosaic Oasis Studio, owned by Betsy Rodman and Suzanne Owadya, who were commissioned to put the finishing touch by creating our heart logo as a tile mosaic to welcome our families.
We hope you stop by soon to see the renovations!

Skating with Purpose:
Thank You, Arlington Hockey Club

On October 1, the  Arlington Hockey Club  hosted its fifth annual Skate-a-Thon to benefit TCR.

This year's Skate-a-Thon raised close to $9,000, and the AHC PeeWee 1 team raised the most money of all teams, winning a pizza party and trip to an upcoming BU hockey game.  We had a blast at the event, and we're deeply honored by and grateful for AHC's ongoing commitment to TCR.

Thank you, AHC, for all you continue to do to support TCR!

#CGADHope : Holding on to HOPE

Children's Grief  Awareness Day . . .

. . . is designed to help us all become more aware of the needs of grieving children and of the benefits that they obtain through the support of others

. . . is an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness of the painful impact that the death of a loved one has in the life of a child.

. . . is an opportunity to make sure that grieving children receive the support they need.

Please join us by wearing BLUE on November 17 to show your support to the grieving children around us.

TCR clinical/program staff and interns will be hosting outreach and awareness events at several school and community locations throughout that day and evening.
