Funded Research Update
Xiaojiang Chen, MD
2016 Senior Investigator
Dr. Chen's research team, alongside collaborators at Thomas Jefferson University, has revealed the mechanism for a unique reverse transcriptase activity of this DNA repair enzyme.
This is a groundbreaking discovery that has the potential for allowing us to introduce information into cancer cells through “targeted vaccines” and correct driver mutations that determine cancer cell doubling.

Community Partners Spotlight
BumbleBee
Foundation
In the first four months of 2022, BumbleBee's Community Partner Grant has supported 11 families in the form of direct Patient Aid and funded 50 meal vouchers from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) for families during in-patient stays, appointments, and treatments.

The goal of the Patient Aid Program is to provide families with a reprieve from financial stress so that they can focus on what is most important: the health and well-being of their child.

“You have helped my family so much with your generosity ... We are forever grateful.” -BumbleBee Foundation Parent
Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project
Since early February 2022, 45 women have completed the Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project's 6-week Survivor to THRIVER Wellness Warrior’s Program.

"The greatest strength of the THRIVER program is the healing that exists within a community. Prior to this project many of the participants were living lonely and sedentary lives for at least the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many participants have expressed how much happier they now are as a result of being able to communicate with other women who share their breast cancer survivor experiences." -Women of Color Breast Cancer Survivors Support Project
