Teacher's contract terminated over excessive use of force
A school district proposed the termination of a teacher's contract for excessive use of force with students. The teacher requested a hearing regarding the proposed contract termination, and the case ended up before the court of appeals. An independent hearing examiner reviewing the case found that the teacher had engaged in multiple instances of excessive force with students, and recommended termination of the teacher's contract. TRS Board discusses fund's investments and office space
In a pared down April meeting during which the TRS Board set new rates and benefits for active teacher health insurance (as detailed last week), the Board also discussed the fund's investments and long-term office space planning, and reviewed a Sunset Commission report.
While the market value of the fund was reported to be around $150 billion, down from $158 billion in August, TRS chief investment officer Jase Aubry said the fund's investment strategy had worked as intended to mitigate losses in this volatile economy.Executive Director Brian Guthrie said members’ annuities are safe and being paid on time.Click here to read more.
