$80M Awarded to State to Replace I-39/90/94 Bridge over Wisconsin River

USDOT awarded WisDOT $80M to replace the I-39/90/94 Wisconsin River Bridge (Columbia Co.) with two new bridges servicing traffic in opposite directions. The project plans also include replacing a pair of overcrossing bridges for county highways U and V.

The Infrastructure For Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant will cover about half of the cost of replacing this bridge built in 1961.

Interstate 39/90/94 is a significant commerce corridor connecting Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago and carrying heavy truck traffic. The route also links tourists with some of Wisconsin’s most visited destinations.

Congress Passes CR Through Dec. 16

As expected during this election year, Congress averted a government shutdown by passing stopgap appropriations for the fiscal year 2023, which started on Oct. 1. The continuing resolution (CR) extends the fiscal year 2022 funding levels through Dec. 16.

This extension allows Congress more time to agree on FY 2023 spending bills after the November elections.
