The
TEACHED film series is all about bringing attention to the ways our public institutions and polices perpetuate race-based injustice in America, particularly against African American boys. When one of our films wins an award, we celebrate the attention it brings to our mission.
We were very honored recently when our new film
Think of Calvin took Second Place for Festival at the
Uptown Short Film Festival in NYC. Thank you to organizers
William Keys and
Len Burnett (featured at right with Director
Kelly Amis) for supporting our work.
TEACHED intern
Zachary Dorcinville shared his festival experience
on our blog.
In other winning news,
the Best Shorts Competition has honored us with Awards of Excellence for Liberation/Social Justice/Protest for
Think of Calvi
n and for Short Documentary and Women Filmmaker Awards for Code Oakland.
Next up on the festival circuit:
Think of Calvin makes its Midwest debut at the
Indiana Black Expo Film Festival on
