Memorial Day Race Needs Volunteers
Monday, May 28th at 7:00 am
Volunteers are needed in many areas to support the runners. Specifically, we are looking for 8-10 happy, cheering people that would be able to cover a water station. Responsibilities for this job included setting up the station (someone from the race committee would help), passing out water to the runners, and cleaning up after all the runners had passed the station. You would get a free volunteer race shirt to wear.
If you are not familiar with this race it is a local race that raises money to help Charlotte County Veterans. It's Our Turn, Inc. is the organization that runs it with support from many local businesses and Deep Creek Community Church. This will be our 5th year of race. The name "It's Our Turn" came from the group realizing that it IS our turn to give back to those who have given so much to their country.
To volunteer, register for the race or make a donation,

A Message from TEAM's CEO
Some messages bear repeating
This is a busy time of year in Punta Gorda. Our town is bursting at the seams. Over 400 citizens turned up at our recent Annual Community Meeting to discuss the future of development in our town. TEAM Punta Gorda is committed to stewardship of this community and its future.
We know we need a healthy, year-round economy in order to survive. We're going to need to build our tax base with more commercial development that will bring new jobs. We'll also need attainable housing for the families that work in these new jobs. But what kind of development is appropriate? What can we do without sacrificing the things that make Punta Gorda special? While TEAM Punta Gorda does not take positions on individual development propositions, we are extremely interested in finding forums where we can engage the community in civil discourse about these issues.
