Special Message from
NJASA Executive Director Dr. Richard Bozza
Dear Colleagues:
We can all attest to the severity and duration of the Covid-19 pandemic. For the past year, NJASA and its members have followed the guidance of our federal and state public health experts and the emergency orders of Governor Murphy.

The Association thanks you for your continued efforts and your dedication in addressing the challenges each of us has had to face in our professional and/or personal lives due to the fallout related to the coronavirus.
It is with deep disappointment that NJASA announces the cancellation of this year’s TECHSPO®’21 and Spring Leadership Conference which were scheduled during the week of May 10. This is not a decision our leadership has taken lightly. Our primary concern is the health and safety of our members, students, staff, and communities.

The Association leadership, over the past few months, has been closely monitoring and evaluating the available scientific data and guidance regarding COVID-19. This was a tough call to make!

TECHSPO®’21 and the Spring Leadership Conference are significant NJASA professional development opportunities for all involved stakeholders. The conferences also serve as an occasion for our Association to recognize the success of several New Jersey educational leaders.

While it is disappointing that we will not be together in-person with our colleagues and exhibitors this year, the Association understands the concerns of the conference attendees who utilize TECHSPO® and the Spring Leadership Conference to accelerate their professional growth and enhance district operations. We shall continue to offer individual seminars and committee activities using virtual platforms to support your work.

NJASA is planning a virtual leadership engagement program, tentatively in mid-May, for all members to gather safely. This setting will provide an opportunity to share knowledge with you and to recognize our Superintendent of the Year, our Regional Superintendents of the Year, our Distinguished Administrator of the Year, as well as our Special Education Administrator of the Year. Details will be forthcoming.

The Association appreciates the support of our NJASA Business Partners and Allied Members and values their expertise as they assist school leaders in the field to move education forward.

It is unfortunate our conference attendees and exhibitors will not see each other this year; but NJASA wants to continue the flow of information from our Business Partners and Allied Members to our membership.

As an NJASA Business Partner or Allied Member if you are interested in networking with the NJASA membership, email NJASA Business Development Director Mary Capasso to investigate opportunities for networking.

NJASA with your support will continue to work diligently to bring you the professional learning opportunities that assist you to improve education in New Jersey. We look forward to a rejuvenated TECHSPO® and Spring Leadership Conference in 2022.

The Association is here to serve its members. Please email the appropriate staff member as you need assistance. Here is a listing of NJASA staff contact information. If you are unsure of whom to contact, email njasanews@njasa.net.

As always, email me if I can be of assistance.

Best wishes to you, your family, your district, and your community.

Sincerely,
