TECHSiL Quarterly Newsletter

June 2025

MESSAGE FROM OUR

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Welcome to our Summer Newsletter & thank you for taking the time and trouble to have a look through.

I hope the customers of Viking Tapes are seeing some positive changes since being part of the TECHSiL Group. We’re expanding our stock holding enormously and hope to be more responsive, reducing lead times. I really enjoyed our visit to 3M Innovation Centre last week and was impressed with the Application Stations they set up. One was specialist vehicles and hence the photo of me in an RV which has lots of VHB applications inside! More on this below.

Sorry for all those price increases we pushed through during the spring. Touch wood the market appears to have settled down for now. Thank goodness for that and I’m glad to see the back of these increases. Let’s hope there are no more macro shocks form North America, Ukraine and the Middle East.

The latest UK PMI makes tough reading at 46.4 index. There’s no doubt operating conditions are tough, and we are facing some headwinds. It appears SME’s are the hardest hit as UK manufacturing continues to retract. Whilst trading conditions are turbulent there are some good signs with PMI reporting 2 months of orders increasing so let’s hope we’re starting to see the downturn ease and a more stable second half to 2025. The European PMI covering 8,000 companies across 11 countries is more optimistic suggesting more manufacturing activity in most sectors during May.

I was delighted that TECHSiL received the A1 Distributor Award from Momentive in April. This is a great honour and recognises the hard work the teams at TECHSiL put in with our Manufacturing Partners. Not only do I send huge appreciation and gratitude to the staff here, I am also thankful for the support we receive from the Momentive Teams in Holland, Leverkusen and Milan!

I also attended the Diploma Plc “Grow Leaders” & “Sales Excellence” events in London during April. It was good to spend some quality time with the other 16 Managing Directors from around the Group and get some ideas about how they set up and motivate their businesses to grow. Diploma operate a de-centralised model and in their hearts all the businesses remain People Businesses with local autonomy and local decision making. TECHSiL wants to be responsive, dynamic, agile, low on bureaucracy and not become robotic and strangled by systems. That's why this newsletter highlights some people in our Teams.

If you have some spare time free please listen to a recent Podcast I did with AlphaQuad where I discuss how TECHSiL has evolved especially in Marketing & e-commerce – Click here

Thank you for sticking with TECHSiL & our new partner Viking Tapes. Have a lovely summer and see you again in the autumn.

Very best,

Chris

3M Bonding Innovation Event

Last month teams from both TECHSiL and Viking Industrial Products attended a fantastic 2-day bonding innovation event hosted by 3M at their Innovation Centre in Bracknell.

With excellent interactive workshops & talks from top experts in the field it gave our teams a chance to make some new connections and get some great inspiration from the right people!

Brilliant to have both teams together for a fun, valuable learning experience.

Thank you to all the team at 3M for hosting! View more pictures from our trip here.

Bonding For a Greener Future

In celebration of World Environment Day, TECHSiL launched our Plant a Tree campaign:

For every website order, we will plant a tree!

As part of the silicone industry, we understand that our products come with environmental challenges, so throughout June and July TECHSiL will plant a tree on behalf of our website customers, every time they order.

We are committed to delivering value responsibly and creating a more sustainable future, our tree planting program is a step towards this - an investment in climate positive action.
