TECNA Board Chair Message
The primary preoccupation on most minds this month is the continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus, the incredibly disruptive effect it is having on people in areas of concentrated spread around the world, but also on the global economy – affecting supply chains, investment, markets, business travel and business confidence. The tech industry is one particularly reliant on global markets, and increasingly on global talent. And while conditions within the US and Canada remain relatively normal, this global event and the uncertainty of what may come next is having a significant impact on so many of the companies we represent. The solution to this global health crisis cannot come soon enough.

March also brings International Women’s Day and I thought I would simply share this message prepared by a member of our team at Venn, Mischka Jacobs, who joined our team in 2017 from South Africa as our Communications and Events Coordinator:

So proud to work at Venn Innovation, an organization that's not afraid of strong, intelligent women. We're a team of 8 with 5 women and 4 newcomers. That's a team embracing diversity and inclusion. "An equal world is an enabled world."

In a new generation of entrepreneurs, there's a new reality where we see women and men in tech pursuing the same opportunities to bring the same impact on the world. As an organization supporting entrepreneurs, it’s important for us to be on the pulse for the bias, so that the new generation doesn’t buy into this, but into equality. And it's important for us to make sure that we ourselves are not perpetuating biases from the past. To all the incredible, talented, brilliant women in our community: we're thinking of you, celebrating you, and wishing you a Happy International Women's Day. # EachforEqual
