Digest Newsletter | July 2021
Dear TECNA Members,

We are less than a week away from our 2021 Virtual Summer Conference! While visiting with nearly all of the TECNA members since my arrival at the start of the year, I have been consistently asked for new ideas for ways to serve members and diversify revenue streams. In seeking to meet that request, the theme of this year’s conference was born.
Nearly all of the speakers on the agenda will be providing attendees with something their member council is doing or has done to serve their own members all the while creating a new form of revenue for their organization. You will be amazed at what your peers are doing! You can also potentially learn to think a little differently by hearing how they’ve chosen to approach membership, revenue streams and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. We have tried to keep the virtual agenda short as we also recognize that we are all “virtual conferenced out.”
We will also have two special guests speaking at the Summer Conference: Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), who will be speaking on her commitment to highly-skilled immigration reform and Scott Hodge, President, The Tax Foundation, who will be presenting the Tax Foundation's research and resources to TECNA members for use when communicating with member companies and elected officials.
Please check out the conference schedule below. I hope to “see” you next week!

TECNA 2021 Virtual Summer Conference
Wednesday-Friday, July 21-23, 2021

We're looking forward to connecting with you at the TECNA 2021 Virtual Summer Conference next week!
This year’s conference offers a focused program on best practices of impactful solutions to serve your members as well as potential new revenue sources to help to grow your tech council -- all ways to increase your value to your members, partners and stakeholders.

Because this is a virtual conference, we hope you will bring as many team members as possible. TECNA is offering a flat rate for Councils that bring 3 or more attendees.

There is still time to register to participate in the conference, and watch the Innovation Awards.
Registered attendees can click here to login to the Summer Conference platform to view the program and to login to the Summer Conference to access all sessions including the 2021 Innovation Awards.

MassTLC Board-Ready Bootcamp - Councils interested in making an impact on tech board diversity, driving membership value, and growing alternative revenue sources should contact MassTLC about partnering to offer the award-winning Board-Ready Bootcamp to your members. The Bootcamp is designed to improve board governance and composition by helping women, tech leaders of color, LGBTQ+ tech leaders, and other underrepresented leaders make progress on their board journeys. With leaders from global brands like Harvard Business School on the faculty, an all-virtual format, and nearly half of our spring cohort attending from outside our region, we wanted to extend the opportunity for our TECNA peers to offer the Bootcamp to their communities as a turnkey member benefit at $1000 off the regular non-member rate. Participating councils would receive a commission of up to $500 per paid registrant that comes through them, brand visibility as a partnering organization, and the opportunity to suggest executives with board experience to join the bootcamp faculty and/or mentor network. How Outdated U.S. Immigration Policies Push Top Talent to Other Countries.   The hearing’s focus was centered on the United States’ antiquated highly skilled immigration policies (i.e. H1-B visas), and how the Unites States is losing these highly skilled workers to other countries and fast.
