TECNA CEO Message
Dear TECNA Members,

It’s hard to believe the 2021 TECNA Summer Conference was nearly six weeks ago already. For those who participated, I hope you were able to take advantage and benefit from the sessions and for those of you who didn’t, you still can! We have decided to keep the sessions available on the Socio platform for another month. For those who did not originally participate/register, you can do so here to receive access. To decide if you’d like to access any of the sessions, the agenda can be found here.

As we all move toward moving events and programming from virtual to hybrid/in-person and the COVID-19 Delta Variant cases on the rise, now more than ever is a time for TECNA members to be leaning on one another for benchmarking and best practices.

We are currently in the process of scheduling all of our quarterly Communities of Interest (COI) meetings for the year starting with Q3. Some COIs meet more often than others, but typically they meet quarterly. If you are interested in participating in any of the COIs, please let us know! We strongly encourage all TECNA teams to participate in the relevant COIs which are:

CEO
Communications
Events
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Membership
Public Policy
Workforce

Additionally, using Slack is a quick and easy way to bounce ideas and obtain feedback from TECNA members. If you are not currently using the TECNA Slack and want to, please let us know and we will get you access!

I’m always eager to hear from you on ways TECNA can be help your council be successful. Please never hesitate to reach out.

MassTLC Board-Ready Bootcamp- Councils interested in making an impact on tech board diversity, driving membership value, and growing alternative revenue sources should contact MassTLC about partnering to offer the award-winning Board-Ready Bootcamp to your members. The Bootcamp is designed to improve board governance and composition by helping women, tech leaders of color, LGBTQ+ tech leaders, and other underrepresented leaders make progress on their board journeys. With leaders from global brands like Harvard Business School on the faculty, an all-virtual format, and nearly half of our spring cohort attending from outside our region, we wanted to extend the opportunity for our TECNA peers to offer the Bootcamp to their communities as a turnkey member benefit at $1000 off the regular non-member rate. Participating councils would receive a commission of up to $500 per paid registrant that comes through them, brand visibility as a partnering organization, and the opportunity to suggest executives with board experience to join the bootcamp faculty and/or mentor network. Recently, Jennifer G. Young, TECNA CEO, was invited to testify on behalf of TECNA before the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship (Judiciary) at a hearing which occurred on Tuesday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. ET titled, Oh, Canada! How Outdated U.S. Immigration Policies Push Top Talent to Other Countries.   The hearing’s focus was centered on the United States’ antiquated highly skilled immigration policies (i.e. H1-B visas), and how the Unites States is losing these highly skilled workers to other countries and fast.
