Tampa Electric to Invest in Visionary Partnership with the College of Engineering
In its effort to explore, research and develop emerging energy technologies that reduce carbon, Tampa Electric’s $5 million investment will create an endowed fund to support the Clean Energy Research Center (CERC) in USF’s College of Engineering. It is the largest single outright gift to the college.
The National Science Foundation has awarded a $20 million grant to a USF-lead team of researchers to develop a standardized approach to the protection and replenishment of coral reef and mangrove ecosystems, which serve as a barrier in protecting our coasts.

The Bachelor of Science program in Cybersecurity has been accredited by Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. A Master of Science in Cybersecurity program also launched fall semester of 2022.

In this case, environmental engineering PhD student Yoel Gebrai was allowed to accept a Fulbright U.S. student research grant and a Boren fellowship, which he was simultaneously awarded in Spring 2022.
Youssef Mohamed | Combining Engineering and Medicine to Help Others
After graduating high school at age 15 and USF at 18 with a BS in biomedical engineering, Youssef Mohamed, received a PhD in biomedical engineering in spring 2022 and now heads to USF's Morsani College of Medicine.
Utkarsh Misra Receives DAAD-RISE Germany Award
His DAAD project has not only provided him with an opportunity to conduct research at one of the top German institutions, but has also allowed for intercultural scientific learning, which he believes will help him advance his career as a young researcher.
