SharpRank, the sport betting industry’s ratings agency, announced today that it has officially oversubscribed and closed its seed round of funding. Led by TEDCO with participation from Sharp Alpha Advisors, Eilers & Krejcik Gaming, Old Line Capital, Metarail Capital, and others, the capital will be used to finalize product market fit, enhance data and technology infrastructure, and execute initiatives of its core, B2B, operations.

LASARRUS, based in Baltimore, is a medtech start-up that has developed the world's first wearable multimodal physiological sensing system. Its patented WearME wearable solution creates a portfolio of physiological parameters that allow for a comprehensive cardiopulmonary assessment to be used for early symptom identification and treatment. The technology addresses the data gap to reduce hospitalization costs and readmission rates.

Treevo, based in Upper Marlboro, developed a free social media application designed to unify followers and followings across platforms. With its integrated features and tools, Treevo has the ability to create a new sub industry under the social networking umbrella.

BioHealth Innovation, Inc. (BHI) has partnered with Montgomery County, Maryland, to support entrepreneurs seeking to commercialize life sciences, digital health, and medical device technologies. The new BHI-County agreement will fund one or more Executives-in-Residence, dedicated to cultivating the local life sciences ecosystem within Montgomery County.

The Baltimore BASE (Business Assistance and Support for Equity) Network is a partnership of entrepreneurial support organizations led by the Baltimore Development Corporation and the Mayor’s Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Development that is committed to helping Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) owned small businesses located in Baltimore City access pandemic-related recovery assistance. The Network was launched in April 2020 and has helped more than 3,000 Baltimore businesses access upwards of $50 million in recovery assistance.

National healthcare incubator 1501 Health is inviting early-stage healthcare startups to apply to its year-long cohort to help scale their solutions through investment and resources.

Small businesses that work in the technology and life sciences space should visit TEDCO’s website to explore an array of funding opportunities and resources for entrepreneurs. TEDCO’s Rural Business Innovation Initiative (RBII) is particularly noteworthy for Frederick County businesses, as it’s designed to enhance technology commercialization and provide technical and business assistance to small and early-stage companies in rural Maryland.

TEDCO held its annual election for the board of directors’ executive officers, reaffirming a second term for Chair Omar Muhammad of Morgan State University (MSU).

The Daily Record named TEDCO CEO Troy LeMaile-Stovall one of Maryland’s 2022 Most Admired CEOs.

What do the National Society of Black Engineers and TEDCO have in common? Both were highlighted in a pop-up conversation with entrepreneurs on seeking helpful resources at every stage of your life and career.

The Maryland General Assembly tasked TEDCO with overseeing the study, which will include an examination of publicly financed advanced industry investment funds in other states and an analysis of minority participation in Maryland’s advanced technology industry careers. RTI will begin work this month, with a completed report due by December 30, 2022.
