This solution is created by HR professionals, for HR professionals, allowing for smart, well-informed, in-the-moment employment and labor law decisions without the need to research regulatory requirements.

Warrior Centric Health is an organization focused on bridging the gaps in healthcare throughout the United States, particularly the gaps that are creating a Veteran healthcare crisis. The business’s focus on providing health equity will enable healthcare facilities to provide optimal care to large, diverse patient populations of veterans, service members and their families. This Warrior Community makes up almost a quarter of the population—and according to WCH research, over 90% of them get all or some of their care outside the Veterans Administration, or “VA,” hospital system.

Linshom Medical developed and patented the respiratory sensor technology and then gained FDA clearance with validating data from the Cleveland Clinic and Harvard. The company is entering a $2 billion US market next month via clinical study at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The technology was advanced in 2021 with an $800K US Air Force Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract in the dual use program for civilian and military applications. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) also recently awarded Linshom Medical a $2.4 million SBIR fast-track grant to further advance the technology and product.

SeeTrue Technology, LLC has designed an innovative microneedle that provides researchers with a reliable and easy-to-use technology that reduces needle clogging and wasted efforts, while also providing increased efficiency and productivity. Through this innovative technology, researchers can more seamlessly continue fundamental research into areas such as stem-cell gene manipulation, in vitro fertilization cycle therapy and more.

The Open Institute for Black Women Entrepreneur Excellence and Leading Women’s Program were both created in partnership with government agencies and universities working in Howard County and Montgomery County, respectively. The programs are designed to help local women founders grow their startups, expand networks and increase their leadership skills. To qualify, applicants needed to be a founder, cofounder or CEO of a company in the pre-seed to growth stage phases that raised nothing beyond a Series A.

According to Arti Santhanam, Ph.D., executive director of TEDCO's Maryland Innovation Initiative (MII), Maryland’s elevation in national rankings for commercialization is critical. “Investment in tech commercialization and the creation of new business translates to income flowing into the state through follow-on investments, creation of jobs, and retention of the talent trained in labs and corporations in Maryland.”
Fostering an active tech ecosystem with programs like MII to mentor, fund and support the creation of new businesses is key to retaining young talent out of our universities.

Balance Theory, a Columbia startup that creates workplace management applications for cybersecurity professionals, has raised $3 million in seed funding and intends to use the proceeds to build out a development team.
