Cyber Maryland Program Aims to Address Cybersecurity Workforce Shortage
As the number of jobs unfilled in Maryland’s cybersecurity industry continues to grow, Maryland leaders are looking for ways to meet the demand for skilled workers.

TEDCO Initiative Propels Catoctin Mountain Growers and Jumplights Partnership to Success
Catoctin Mountain Growers (“Catoctin”), located in Keymar, has been in the ornamental flower business for decades. Founded in 1985 by Bob and Denise Van Wingerden, the business has played a key role in supplying ornamentals to large retailers such as Walmart.
While wildly successful, a team of engineers at Gaithersburg-based JumpLights saw a unique partnership opportunity to help Catoctin be even more productive. Like many other greenhouses, Catoctin traditionally used 600-watt High Pressure Sodium (HPS) fixtures to supplement light for their plants, and the fixtures were past their prime. Read More

Celebrating Five Years of FAST Success
For five years, the TEDCO Small Business Administration (SBA) Federal and State Partnership Program (FAST)-funded Proposal Lab has taught more than 120 Maryland tech and life science businesses the essential skill of writing compelling, compliant, competitive Phase I SBIR/STTR proposals. The results are clear: companies participating in TEDCO’s Proposal Lab outperform the competition with a Phase I award success rate of 39%, more than double that of other applicants. Read More
