Letter from the CEO

Hello TEMA,

2022 was quite the year and we are happy to share with you the 2022 Annual Report. It is because of the incredible support and guidance we received in 2022 that we are continuing to make bold moves to make this organization even greater in 2023. 2022 brought us back to a semblance of what “normal” used to mean as we began having regular Chapter meetings, we were able to schedule larger gatherings without having a “Plan B” waiting in the wings, and we were able to not just maintain, but GROW as we moved forward with living out our mission – to promote resource management.

In 2022, we went back to having our Annual Conference during our “normal” April time schedule. In June, we launched the TEMA Table concept (a 1 ½ day event that combined education with networking) in the El Paso area. In September, we hosted the first of our Fall Events with Education and a Clay Shoot in Georgetown, TX, and we also initiated our very first TEMA Symposium (a daylong conference) and launched a chapter in Lubbock, TX. In October, we hosted the 2nd of our Fall Events with Education and a Golf Tournament in New Braunfels, TX. November took us to Albuquerque, NM for the 2nd TEMA Symposium and chapter launch, and in December we made the rounds to many of the Chapter’s annual Holiday Parties that were all about continuing connections and creating new ones, too.

In addition to all of those in-person events, we continued to offer online courses, pop-up courses, our mentorship program that offers peer-to-peer partnering for career growth, and we introduced a new line of virtual meeting called Energy Basics 101 with the corresponding Candid Conversations that act as a practical follow-up to the information introduced in the 101 series.

As you can see, 2022 was a busy year. But all the busy was worth it, because through it all, we saw TEMA grow not only in new places but also in places where we have always been.

As we carry on in 2023, we know that TEMA will see even more growth, and while that brings challenges, it also brings opportunities to LEAD – Learn, Engage, Advance, and Discover. Yes, LEAD is the goal for TEMA this year, with your help we know it can be done. TEMA has a great year planned with all the networking and education opportunities you are used to. TEMA will continue to expand the number of chapters and resources afforded with your membership, as well as create more prospects for connecting with others in the field and learning new information.

We are so thankful that you continue to choose TEMA and we look forward to giving you even more value in 2023. As always, I be remised if I didn't remind you to register for TEMA Connect 2023 in Corpus Christi, April 26 - 28! We look forward to seeing you there for 45+ educational sessions, 60+ exhibitor booths, and so much fun!

Member Spotlight!

Alison Gersch - Round Rock ISD

Alison is a dedicated TEMA member in the Central Texas Chapter. She has only been a member for the past couple of years, but dove in head first to take advantage of all the benefits afforded by TEMA. Recently, she took on the new role of Membership Outreach Chair for the CTX chapter, seeking to garner interest in the chapter and help grow membership overall. She quickly earned her Accredited Energy Manager Certification and recently earned her Controls Specialist Certification, showing that if you put forth the effort, you can do it. She dabbles in a few different artistic trades, read the interview to find out more about Alison!

Jennifer Malaniuk - Richardson ISD

Jennifer was awarded the WISE Award for projects at Richardson ISD from Smart Energy Decisions. Great job leading the way for sustainability and energy efficiency at Richardson ISD!

Stephanie Walker - Houston ISD

With Stephanie's effort and the rest of Houston ISD, the district received $300,000 to develop a new recycling program by partnering with various business leaders! Article Link

After training for 10 years and swimming 25,000 miles, Josh Davis made history by becoming the only male to win 3 gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. With the help of his 6x Olympic Coach, Davis went on to go even faster at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, breaking the American Record three times and being elected Captain by Michael Phelps and the fellow USA Teammates! Now looking back Josh realized that the 4 principles for peak performance in sports that his Olympic Coach taught him also apply to business and life.
