School Starts Next Week! Here is some important Back to school information

Please Enjoy your last week of summer vacation!  The first day of school is Monday, August 27th.

As part of our continuing efforts to reduce the amount of paper being sent home, much of our back to school information is now available online here.

TEMS student schedules should be available via the Home Access Center (HAC) by Monday afternoon, August 20th.

5th Grade Parents  are invited to bring their student to TEMS to pick-up Class Schedules & Locker Assignments this week on August 20, 10am-1pm. Packets not picked up will be mailed home.

The  TEMS School Store provides one-stop shopping for School Supplies, Gym Uniforms and Spirit Wear
The store will be open this week  Aug 20,  10am-1pm.

*Gym uniforms are available at the school store all year long.  $8 for shirts and $7 for shorts.  Cash or checks should be made payable to T/E School District.

Bridge Reminder: The bridge over the train tracks on Howellville Road at the intersection of Rt. 30 is still closed.  We are eagerly anticipating its reopening, which is projected for the end of this month.

7 th and 8 th Grade Laptops -
Families are asked to pay an annual cost-sharing fee of $50 per student for a district-issued laptop that students will use throughout the year, with a maximum annual family fee (grades 7-12) of $100.  This fee covers the manufacturer's extended warranty and Accidental Damage Protection, as well as a case and set-up/maintenance of the device. The fee can be paid online in advance (information is available at www.tesd.net/laptops ) or by check when the laptop is picked up in the first couple weeks of school.

"Break the Ice"

Attention 7th and 8th Graders wanting to play TEMS Fall sports...

Practices for the fall season typically begin during the first full week of school. Students should listen to the morning announcements for organizational meetings and first practices. Students can also informally sign up on sheets in the cafeteria during lunch. Questions about starting times can be directed to the athletic/main office or to the coach. To be eligible to attend practice, students must have all paperwork completed in the athletic/main office and they need to have taken an ImPACT baseline test.
see the TEMS Athletic Website for more info
From the Nurse...

Medications in School-
A doctor's order is needed for the nurse to dispense prescription and over the counter medications , which include herbal and dietary supplements, vitamins, natural remedies and homeopathic medicines.
  • The District Medication Policy #5406 prohibits students from carrying medications (defined above) to and from school. A parent or guardian must deliver it to school.
  • The medication policy requires that a new doctor's order be written each school year. Nurses can not use orders from the previous school year
  • Inhalers and EPIPENS are considered emergency medications. Students may self carry these meds if a physician's order form is on file in the nurse's office. A new doctor's order is required for self-carry medications every school year.
Link here to "Medications is School" on TEMS website.

Emergency Cards-
The green Emergency Medical Information Card will be mailed home with your student's schedule.
It is most important for the school nurse to have a card on file for each student. Please return the completed card to school as soon as possible. Remember to fill out both sides of the card.  If there are any changes in emergency information during the school year, please call the nurse with an update.

All this information and more can be found on the TEMS website under " Student Health Services."
