MPSI Commemorative Pewabic Tile
Founded in 1920 as the Merrill-Palmer Motherhood and Home training School, for 100 years the Merrill Palmer Skillman Instiute for Child & Family Development has been a leader in innovative research, training and community engagement. The design of this pewabic tile is based on a Merrill family coat-of-arms first used by the school in 1923 to honor the vision of its founder, Lizzie Merrill-Palmer. The motto, Vinicit Qui Patitur (“Who endures is victorious”), points the Institute to its next 100 years.

The Deborah J. Weatherston Infant Mental Health Scholarship honors Dr. Weatherston's lifetime of developmental and clinical work, leadership, and mentorship. She measurably improved the welfare of infants by expanding and professionalizing Infant Mental Health best practice. Her scholarship supports diversity in the profession of Infant Mental Health by providing financial support to students with financial need who are enrolled in the Dual-Title Degree Program in Infant Mental Health at Wayne State University.
