Notes from the Chair:
ARE YOU READY FOR A GREAT EVENT!
Next Thursday, August 20, 2020 we will have the great honor to spend an hour with Justice Rebeca Martinez and special guests. Justice Martinez, who is running for Chief Justice of the 4th. Court of Appeals, will brief us on Texas Justice, and introduce seven special guests who are running Statewide Judicial office. The importance electing Democrats to judicial offices cannot be underestimated and educating folks to vote the entire ballot is critical. Also, these candidates need donations to help them win. Please support them with your vote and your pocketbook.

|
Our goal for the November election is to motivate every Democrat and progressive leaning person in Kendall County to vote. To do that we will need every Democrat to understand the importance of voting for our talented and dedicated Democratic Judicial Candidates.
Remember DON’T STOP AT THE TOP – VOTE FOR EVERY DEMOCRAT.
SEE YOU NEXT THURSDAY AT 5:30 p.m.!

POTENTIAL POSTAL SLOWDOWN
I know we all have been stressing and venting about the actions the administration is talking about and taking concerning the Post Office. I suggest on Monday we all call Chip Roy’s San Antonio office and tell him we want the Post Office properly funded and that mail in ballots be handled on a priorIty basis. Also, if you vote by mail please return your ballot promptly so you can be sure it gets to the Election Office. Ballots will be mailed out starting in early October. You can and should check that your ballot is received by calling the election office or checking on-line. We’ll provide more details on all aspects of voting in future newsletters and in Progressive Views columns which can be found on the KCDP website.
Call Chip Roy's San Antonio Office and be heard!

Over the next 10 weeks leading up to early voting, we’ll run a Candidate Profile in each newsletter. These profiles will introduce you to our amazing slate of Democratic candidates, what they’re running for, why that office is important, and a short candidate profile. Please share with your friends and family!

Running for: Texas House of Representatives, District 73
Stephanie Phillips believes in quality public education with adequate funding and resources; healthcare as a human right; working to address climate change (already affecting the Hill Country); and legislation to grant authority to counties to implement common sense land-use rules. The incumbent is an ultra-conservative who, among other things, promotes a drug with no proven effectiveness against COVID and wants to completely re-open bars and restaurants during the pandemic. Stephanie is a teacher, an innovative small business owner, and a professional musician.
Why is this office important?
The Texas House of Representatives meets in odd-numbered years and passes laws that affect the daily lives of every Texan. In recent years, the Legislature has actively worked to remove control from local cities and counties, instead concentrating that control in Austin. The HD73 incumbent has been an active participant in that effort. Kendall County deserves better representation, and Stephanie will provide it.

If you missed the Live Interview with Rebecca Bell-Metereau don't worry.
We have the recording which provides a great opportunity to learn about the Texas State Board of Education and District 5 Candidate, Rebecca Bell-Metereau.
In the Video, Rebecca is interviewed by two young women who want to learn about the State Board of Education and the tremendous impact it has on public education in Texas. The video explains why we must change the makeup of the Ultra-conservative board so that our textbooks and curriculum reflect the truth about subjects like science and history.

PLANT A DEMOCRATIC GARDEN
We’re fired up and proud of our great Democratic candidates
We want all of Kendall County to know it! It’s very important for us to be visible and open about the great candidates on our ticket, to remind neighbors and passersby: “There are more of us than you think!”
So if you’d like to plant a “Democracy Garden” like the one pictured here, we’ve got the “seeds” you need. At the Democratic HQ in Boerne, we’ve got the following campaign signs, with more on their way:
-
Biden for President (Biden/Harris- expected in 2 weeks)
-
Wendy Davis for Congress (official campaign logo, light blue)
-
Texans for Wendy Davis (Texas flag graphic)
- Stephanie Phillips for Texas House District 73
-
Justice Rebeca Martinez for Chief Justice, 4th Court of Appeals
-
Vote Blue 2020 / Votar Azul 2020 (Currently Out-more on order)
We also have signs and “car magnets” with the “Vote Blue 2020 – Unite the Country” message featured on our new billboard on I-10 (eastbound between Comfort and Boerne).
You can either stop by our Democratic HQ in Boerne to pick up your campaign signs.
and we will deliver them to your door or plant them in your yard for you!
