I must begin this newsletter with an apology for making a mistake over course titles and tutors for the Textile Study Group summer school 2023 in my last newsletter. So let me begin by giving you the correct details.

The focus of the Summer School will be on salvaging and repurposing a wide range of materials. You may choose to work with a personal collection, finding inspiration in found objects, you could find new life in old materials or you might be drawn to work with discarded materials and the principles of fan making to explore ideas.
Your enthusiastic and experienced tutors will encourage and support you in finding new stories to tell through your work.

A face to face course
We had a great time last last Friday and the weekend with Matthew and he was once again a huge success with the students. He certainly knows how to mentor students in his classes and they all went away contented and have promised to send images of how their work develops in a couple of months time.

  2. What specific content would you prefer to see.
  3. Do you want to make a finished item or just try lots of new ideas.
  4. How often would you be prepared to come to the studio.
  5. Anything else you might like to add.

Any course delivered would respond to the individual students needs and such courses in turn would help you discover a bit more about yourself. With a student centred approach you will gain confidence and begin to generate your own ideas around personal themes.
