DEVELOPING AND MANAGING THE FUTURE OF APARTMENT HOME LIVING
July 2019
Dear FJG Family,
We're gearing up for our annual outreach program, Operation School Supplies. My father, Wendell Franklin started this operation over 13 years ago. The program began to make sure that the children in our FJG properties all started school with the essential school supplies to be successful. Each year the program continues to grow, as more of our owners have joined in on the giving at their properties as well. We are beyond excited that this year we will be providing school supplies at 46 communities in 3 states to over 3,000 children.

I am very proud that this tradition continues to live on at TFJG. Although the mission is the same, each year gets better because of our team members going above and beyond. These key employee attributes remind me of my favorite core value: "Commitment - Our Passion is People". This value not only applies to our TFJG family, but to our residents who live and play in our communities.

Sincerely,

Taylor Franklin

Summer Internships Wrap Up interns
We had a great group of interns this summer! They were with TFJG for 8 weeks and each worked at two different communities. Once completing their time at the properties, they each did a presentation at Corporate for Senior Management where they shared what they learned and provided feedback. Now that their internship is complete, Jack and Derek will be heading back to school. Trey is currently traveling in Panama, but is considering working in the property management field in the future. Lastly, Connor has accepted a Leasing Consultant position at one of our communities, Park Crescent in Norfolk, VA. Thank you all for your hard work. We know whatever you do, your future is bright!

Rave Review - The Arbors at Culpeper ravereview
Thank you, team Culpeper, for going above and beyond to make certain that your residents (and their families) are happy.
This review should remind us all that hard work rarely goes unnoticed. Kindness and professionalism are appreciated and we are proud that our team delivers both!

"For more than a year, my girlfriend's elderly father has lived at The Arbors at Culpeper. His name is Mr. Knighting, an 85-year-old retiree, who has lived most of his life in a rural country setting. Living in an apartment with two caregivers was a major change of life, but his physical condition required a different lifestyle.

As his daughter and I searched for a place for him to live, since his landlord planned to sell the house he had rented in Madison County for more than 29 years, we discovered The Arbors at Culpeper.

We can't or say enough good things about the staff, who provided valuable assistance during the rental process. Amy, Ashley and Gary are a credit to your company. All of them were an absolute joy to work with the entire time Mr. Knighting was a resident. Each of them could serve as a template about how to manage a complex.

The trio are extremely professional and knowledgeable. The facility they manage and maintain is top notch. It is a beautiful facility with lots of amenities and activities for residents. We wanted you to know just how much we appreciate that incredible staff and the jobs they perform.

   Sincerely,
Mr. Knighting's daughter & Wally Bunker"

Be the Solution Winners Solution
Congratulations to the following team members for taking extraordinary measures to  Be the Solution  at their communities:

Saundra Beltz Community Manager
at Springhouse
Saundra was nominated by Luna Pointe Community Manager, Tracy Gonzales.
Tracy wrote: "Since being promoted as property manager, Saundra has always been my GO TO for guidance. Whether it be a report I need help with, or just a general question, Saundra has always been available to help me regardless of her hectic schedule.  She doesn't just radiate one TFJG core value, but two!  Knowledge & Teamwork!  I ask and she empowers me with 'Knowledge', and 'Teamwork' because  I feel like at TJFG, we are ALL a team, and with her help, she makes things happen!"

Jennifer McCarthy, Risk Analyst
at  the Corporate office
Jennifer was nominated by VP of Operations, Christen Faatz.  Christen wrote:  "Jennifer is great asset to The Franklin Johnston Group.  Not only does she perform her job with great accuracy and efficiency, but she also makes it a point to help other departments whenever she can.  She is quick to handle situations with the right sense of urgency and care. I have seen her come up with solutions to some of the most complicated problems and it is refreshing to see. I appreciate all of her hard work!  Thanks for all you do, Jennifer!"

Margaret Malloy, Community Manager
at The Crossings at Heritage
Margaret was nominated by The Crossings at Heritage Leasing Specialist, Cindy Davis. Cindy wrote: "Margaret is our new Community Manager who has hit the ground running here at The Crossings at Heritage.  Margaret recently moved to North Carolina to retire-that's right, retire...as in not work, chill, enjoy life, and be closer to family. As a resident here at our senior community since last November, she was already making her mark, getting to know other residents, working with us on fun activity ideas, even cleaning out the Clubhouse craft room!!  Needless to say, her retirement was very short-lived!! With her vast property management wisdom and experience and with so much left to give, it just wasn't time for her to walk away from the industry. When the job came available here, she went for it. While most people her age would be...well-retired, Margaret is tireless, fun-loving, uber-organized, and already implementing measures that create a sense of genuine community. She asks great questions, listens to ideas and concerns of residents, tackles daily tasks and responsibilities with enthusiasm (she literally just did a 'Hallelujah!!' for getting the big green 'yes's' on her MRI closeout by herself), promotes teamwork, and enforces policies and regulations with true diplomacy.  With her relational style and positive spirit, she exhibits every core value and sets a great tone in the office every day."
