Welcome to our first newsletter of 2026! February is off to a fast-paced start at The Grants Clearinghouse and WorkED Consulting, and we’re staying busy supporting partners, advancing projects, and building new tools to help you do your work more effectively.

We have been particularly busy helping states with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) mid-cycle State Planning and submission of waiver requests. We’re especially excited to announce the launch of our new WIOA Waiver Toolkit—a practical, user-friendly resource designed to help states better understand, apply for, and implement WIOA waivers with confidence. Whether you’re exploring options or already navigating the waiver process, this toolkit was built to save time, reduce confusion, and support stronger workforce outcomes. We are supporting states through the entire State Planning process, and can assist with all facets of a submission. NEW PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS

We are thrilled to announce that TGC founding company, WorkED Consulting, has been awarded a contract from West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) to provide Grant Evaluator Services as part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Strengthening Community Colleges (SCC) Round 5 Training Grants Program. Additionally, WorkED Consulting will conduct the evaluation of Santiago Canyon College’s SCC4 project, drawing on our extensive experience and familiarity with U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) federally funded programs. See more here.

NEW TO THE TEAM

Kristen Weeden

Kristen has over 15 years of experience in progressive non-profit leadership. She is currently finishing her dissertation and holds a Masters of Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. Her experience as a therapist and non-profit leader has made her a visionary with the goal of helping communities to develop programs that will assist in sustainability. Kristen has also helped to design several Registered Apprenticeship degrees with national partners and was instrumental in leading the first Registered Apprenticeship for Educator Preparation. She has successfully secured funding from diverse philanthropic partners and written federal, state, and private grants.
