Respect for customers makes a difference to business owners, their bottom line, and future patronage. Overall, treating others in a way that you would like to be treated fundamentally makes sense. The Log article of August 4, 2022, “Slip Fees in Long Beach Marinas Will Increase by Three Percent,” references the importance of caring about customers and treating them respectfully and thoughtfully, especially when broaching the subject of increasing slip fees.
“Marine Bureau Manager Elvira Hallinan is cognizant of the impact fee increases have on Long Beach Marinas customers. Through fiscally responsible stewardship, Hallinan ensures that slip fee increases stay at the minimum two percent, or as near to that percentage as possible, based on the current and future economic well-being of the Long Beach Marinas.”
As a natural course of doing business, especially during this current pandemic era, unpleasant sensations trend from attitudes of “all for me and too bad for whoever gets left behind, pushed aside, or disregarded, by the so-called, powers that be. Without question or calling names, Dana Point Harbor fee increases of 26% to 95% defied even a hint of respect or thoughtfulness to the future economic well-being of Dana Point Harbor customers and boaters at large.
The current conditions, absent necessary improvements, and, maintenance of our aging harbor, pales in comparison as justification for this outrageous increase and absent temperament of gentle thoughtfulness for boat slip renters. “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down” is cheerful and clever advice.
Your Dana Point Boaters Association advocates on your behalf in the spirit of fun, safety, information exchange, and comradely among all boaters. Whether an experienced captain, power, or sailboat owner, new to boating, or somewhere in between, you deserve to enjoy the best accommodations for yourself and your boat under a prevailing atmosphere of friendliness, mutual respect, and thankfulness.
Thank you for your great generosity! We greatly appreciate your support of DPBA and/or our class action legal fund. We invite your questions and ideas about issues. Will you tell your friends and neighboring boaters about DPBA and ask them to join you in support of restoring our harbor community to the glimmering jewel that is Dana Point Harbor?
We ask that you continue to write letters to the County Supervisors and voice your opinion. Your words matter, and you are an important person that deserves to be heard. The power of one is the strength of many.
