SPA Celebrates
Illumination Night!
THANK YOU to everyone who came out last Friday to celebrate Summit Public Art's Illumination Night! More than a hundred people joined us for free guided tours of all the new public art installations around town then gathered on the Green for an evening of music, video, and lots of bubbles as we celebrated 20 years of Summit Public Art! It truly was a magical night and reminded us how fortunate we are to live in a community that values and supports public art!
We were also honored to have some of our SPA artists there to celebrate with us. Thanks to Ronen Gamil, Donna Conklin King, Carlos Mendoza, and Willie Cole for coming out to help us kick off our new season!
Thanks also to Mayor Nora Radest and the City of Summit and to Beyond Main and Sweet Nothings and to all of our community sponsors for their generous support!
Special nights like this don't happen without an enormous amount of help, which is why we would like to thank Ellen de Havilland, Sarah Walko, and Deepa Whipple for organizing the event and all of our SPA board members whose hard work made this special evening possible.
We would also like to thank our Community Art Experience Sponsors: Linda & Robert Flanagan, Vickie & Paul Guagliardo, Deige & Tom McLaughlin, Cheryl Barr & Tom O’Flynn, Rosen Kelly Conway Architecture + Design, and Debi & Fred Schwarzmann.
And our Community & Educational Experiences Supporters: Rick & Deepa Whipple, Robert Flanagan, Margery and Archie Gottesman, John and Aimee Feeley – Lois Schneider, David Naidu, Shally Saini, Mary Birmingham, Marjorie Fox, Leslie Herman, Amy Weiss, and Mukul Bishnoi.

What we do is all about you, our Summit community. Through public art, we strive to add to the cultural vitality of our town and expand our sense of community pride. Over the past two decades, Summit Public Art has installed more than 80 temporary artworks around Summit as well as a number of permanent works including murals, stained glass, and the Silver Sentinel tree sculpture at the entrance to town. And work is currently underway on a new permanent sculpture at the Promenade Fountain downtown, which will be unveiled later this year. No one knows what the next twenty years will bring, but what we do know is that we look forward to continuing to provoke, educate, delight, and inspire!
