Hello Marine Family Members!

On Gold Star Family Day, we come together to honor those who have lost a loved one serving in the U.S. military by lighting a luminary on the last Sunday in September.

Throughout America’s history, from the Revolutionary War to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, families have seen their loved ones heed the call of duty; and with that duty comes the ultimate burden that these families must bear. Lighting a luminary on Gold Star Family Day lets them know they don’t stand alone.

Your show of support for Gold Star Families in 2019 was amazing! We hope you’ll support Gold Star Families again in 2020, and let them know that their loved one’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Luminary Initiative 2020 - Involve Your State Capitol
It’s never too early to start planning your Luminary Initiative event. This year, we’d like to get the State Capitols involved in holding an event.

We need YOUR help to make this happen. We will send letters and information to the state capitols, but we also need volunteers in each state to follow up with boots on the ground and persons with whom you may have contact. We are hoping for a success rate of at least 20% of state capitols willing to hold a luminary lighting ceremony on Gold Star Family Day. Can you help us make this happen?

Take the Pledge Today!
In 2019, more than 2,600 people participated in the Luminary Initiative! There were 394 people who signed the pledge, as well. So many of you showed your support of Gold Star Families and we can’t thank you enough!

In 2020, our goal is to beat those numbers and get even more people involved. We need YOUR help to make this happen! Share this newsletter with your friends and family and urge them to sign the pledge. We hope you’ll consider lighting a luminary on Gold Star Family Day, the last Sunday in September.

Show Your Support!
We are currently looking for volunteers to work on-site serving dinners at the USO near Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

If you or someone you know lives in the area and are interested in volunteering with WST-East, click here to fill out an application. Be sure to check the box for WST-East to ensure the application is processed more efficiently.
Donate $20 to the Warrior Support Team and then ask a friend to donate $20. Every donation gets us closer to our goal of $20,000 by February 29, 2020. That's about $1000 a day for 20 days. We need your help asking for donations and sharing our stories.

As of 1:30 PM CST Thursday 2/27/2020, we have raised $5765 of our $20,000 goal.
