Hello Friends!!!

WOW, this has been an amazing ski season!! Even though I “suited up” every winter day I was in Aspen, it even got too long and too cold for me. However, the snow was mostly perfect, so maybe the answer is to take some warm weather breaks! I met my son and granddaughters in Whitefish, Montana, for a few days in January and Park City at the end of March. Park City was especially charming with a HUGE 7,000 + acres. But, my heart is still in Aspen. And Aspen Mountain will be open until April 23 as we had so much snow this year!

Our City Election was on March 7 and our two young businessmen were inducted this Tuesday night. My hope is we change the culture enough at City Hall and they now will be open to a dialogue and willing to change some past poor decisions for both locals and businesses. (CLICK HERE)
This has been a very interesting season and looking at the statistics it shows about half the number of single family homes and townhome/condos sold this year vs. last year. The astonishing thing to me is that the new product coming on the market is at VERY AGGRESSIVE PRICES per square foot. If you look at 2021-2022 to now you will see the shocking falling dollar volume closed.

There is no question that Aspen City Hall raised most charges in building or remodeling. We probably have one of the highest costs for a demo or building permit in America - often costing $500,000 and up. Plus, the City imposed even greater mitigation fees to build employee housing. All this now causes new building costs to increase exponentially.... will this slow down new builds more? Call me for clarification!

86th Highland Bowl hike for an 81st birthday;
Niklaus Kuhn gets after it
At the beginning of the ski season, Aspenite Niklaus Kuhn set out with the goal of hiking the Highland Bowl at least 81 times in his 81st year of life. He planned to do his 81st hike and ski lap on Sunday, his 81st birthday, but ended up doing his 86th. An overachiever by any standards. (CLICK HERE)
