“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting. (Psalm 107:1 NASB95
On October 3, 1863, President Lincoln proclaimed that November 26, would be a national Thanksgiving Day, to be observed every year on the fourth Thursday of November. While it was left up to the individual what to give thanks for, there was no question or doubt about Who to give thanks to.
This nation was founded upon the freedom to worship, and on Thanksgiving Day, Almighty God was the One America honored. We should be grateful that a day was set aside to express our thanks to God. But giving thanks is not just a “one-day” event. It is a shame that more people will be shopping on “Black Friday” than will be in church the following Sunday.
The world's concept of Thanksgiving is different from those of the Kingdom. We recognize that all that we have is because of God’s amazing grace. We understand we cannot work for salvation, but we can work because of salvation. Being involved in the work of the church is one of the many ways we can express our thanks.
The pastor and I want to thank God for each of you, and our prayer is that you will be blessed to celebrate the goodness of the LORD and sense His presence as you do so. We believe that He will strengthen and keep you so that you can bear much fruit.
