Pictured: community parade at the 2017 Loisaida Festival TheaterLab.
The Festival historically kicks off each year with the Community Parade, a carnival through the streets of Loisaida that leaves from Dry Dock Park at 11am sharp. Batala NYC, the all-women, Afro Brazilian samba-reggae ensemble will be marching with us! A Community Pageant later closes the Loisaida Festival Theater Lab.

Artwork, costumes, and other props for the Parade and Pageant are created from recycled and found materials from the neighborhood. Artist have been leading community workshops  at the  ChaShaMa  - LES studio on East 4th Street & Avenue C. Drop by before the Festival to join  the fun--all ages welcome!

Please note that this year's Theater Lab will take place between 6th Street and 7th Street on Avenue C.
