These are truly exciting times for our Asian American community! We are witnessing an incredible wave of recognition and opportunities that highlight the strength and potential within our community. I am thrilled to share some of the recent and upcoming events that the Asian Chamber is proud to be part of. The chamber welcomed and supported the National Association of Asian American Professionals at their annual Leadership Convention and Unity gala.
The inaugural AAPIHOU Convention, produced by the City of Houston AAPI Advisory Board, was a resounding success. It brought together thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers to celebrate our diversity and collective power. Our very own Paul Gor proudly serves on this board on behalf of the chamber.
Additionally, on July 26, we were honored to be one of the organizers of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) community engagement event at HOPE Clinic and the host of the ERG Meet and Greet at Hines. Both events provided a vital platform for stakeholders in the Houston area to connect and learn about the important work being done to support our communities.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the Asian Chamber Business Conference on August 16! This premier event is designed to provide valuable insights and opportunities to help your business thrive. With expert speakers, networking sessions, and practical workshops, it's an event you won't want to miss.

White Houston Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) Community Engagement Event

The Asian Chamber was honored to be one of the organizers of The White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) community engagement event on July 26 at HOPE Clinic.
The event aimed to introduce WHIAANHPI to stakeholders in the Houston area and provide a platform for AA and NHPI community and business leaders, federal officials, intergovernmental partners, and private sector and philanthropic organizations to connect and learn about the ongoing efforts to support AA and NHPI communities in this region.
Participants gained insights into WHIAANHPI’s priorities and initiatives and received updates from Biden-Harris administration officials on various federal programs and resources available to them. The event concluded with an optional networking session, offering attendees an additional chance to build relationships and connections.
We were proud to support this significant event and look forward to continuing our support for the AA and NHPI communities.

The Chamber Co-Hosts Prestigious
WHIAANHPI Meet and Greet
The Asian Chamber was thrilled to co-host a prestigious meet and greet with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI). This remarkable event was a testament to the power of community and collaboration, offering an unparalleled opportunity for AANHPIs and allies to connect and engage with key figures from the WHIAANHPI.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Hines for graciously hosting us at their stunning downtown office and catering the food from Kata Robata. The beautiful setting provided the perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations and networking among attendees.
The event featured distinguished guests, including Caroline Goon, Director of External Affairs at WHIAANHPI, Judith Teruya, Senior Advisor at WHIAANHPI, and Kota Mizutani, Senior Advisor at the White House Office of Public Engagement. These esteemed individuals traveled from Washington, DC, to join us and share their insights and experiences.
Participants had the unique opportunity to discuss important issues affecting the AANHPI community, explore potential collaborations, and gain valuable perspectives from our honored guests. The discussions were lively and productive, reflecting the shared commitment to advancing the interests and well-being of our communities.
This meet and greet was more than just an event; it was a celebration of the strength and unity of the AANHPI community. We look forward to building on the connections made and continuing to work together to create positive change.

The Asian Chamber was honored to participate in the inaugural AAPIHOU Convention, hosted by the Mayor’s Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Advisory Board. This landmark event brought together thought leaders, innovative change-makers, entrepreneurs, scholars, government officials, and more to celebrate the diversity and collective power of the AAPI community.
The AAPIHOU Convention featured inspiring keynote addresses, insightful panel discussions, valuable networking opportunities, and access to the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) job fair and community market. It was an excellent platform for attendees to engage with various aspects of the AAPI community and build meaningful connections.
As part of our involvement, the Chamber was proud to help coordinate the Entrepreneur Panel, which featured esteemed speakers, including:

Chloe di Leo from My Drink Bomb, whose products are now available in 4,000 outlets, including Sur La Table and Costco.
We also supported the Creative Panel on Friday, featuring the talented designer Chloe Dao.
The AAPIHOU Convention was a significant event that highlighted the strengths and contributions of the AAPI community. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Mayor’s AAPI Advisory Board and other partners to further empower and uplift our community.

Texas Named Best Business Climate in the Nation by Business Facilities Magazine

Texas has done it once again! In June, Business Facilities named the Lone Star State the Best Business Climate in the nation for the second year in a row. Our state and metro areas also received top rankings in other categories in the 2024 State & Metro Rankings Report. This recognition reaffirms that Texas is truly bigger and better for business!
Highlighting the success of Asian businesses, Texas continues to be a prime location for international companies. Currently, over 1,900 foreign corporations operate in the state, including many thriving Asian enterprises. These businesses contribute to Texas’s robust economy and diverse market.
In other exciting news, Texas leads the nation in job creation over the past 12 months. The state has reached a new all-time high for the number of Texans employed and the size of the Texas labor force, now exceeding 15.3 million strong.

We’re H-Town Proud: Asher Hong Shines on the Global Stage
We’re H-town proud of Asher Hong, a local sensation who began his gymnastics career at Cypress Academy of Gymnastics. Asher, a former NCAA champion in vault for Stanford University, has now made his Olympics debut as a key member of this year's USA Men’s Gymnastics Team. His exceptional talent and dedication have propelled him to the global stage, where he continues to impress with routines marked by precision and grace.
Asher's journey reached a new high when he helped Team USA secure a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships. His commitment and skill have earned him a place among the world's elite gymnasts, and he continues to represent our community with pride and excellence.
During Monday's team final at the Olympics, the 20-year-old gymnast perfectly executed his routine. Earlier, Hong earned an excellent score on rings, setting a strong start for Team USA. With one rotation remaining, the U.S. team remains in the mix for a medal.
Asher Hong's journey from Cypress Academy to the Olympics is an inspiring story of perseverance and excellence. We proudly celebrate his achievements and look forward to watching his continued success on the world stage.
