PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Greetings Families,

Pilot programs in LGUSD are off to a great start. Thank you to all families and staff for continuing to provide mutual respect for one another while we continue to press forward to find the most effective models to move towards reopening schools. Here are a few pictures of pilot classes this week where students successfully wore masks and remained physically distanced:
As conferences begin on Monday, please note that the daily virtual classroom schedules and afternoon electives will remain the same. If you haven’t had a chance to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher, it’s not too late! Our partnership to support every child continues to be a top priority.

Finally, this Friday October 30 will be an exciting day for all Cool Cats (physically and virtually)! 5th grade students have been practicing a virtual Thriller dance and I can’t wait to share a sneak peek with the community soon! At 12:15 P.M. this Friday, we will have a school-wide celebration. Please encourage your child(ren) to participate.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week and a Happy (& safe) Halloween!

Kind regards,
Jenna Mittleman
Principal
H&SC PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Dear Daves Avenue Families,

I cannot believe we are about to enter November. This is the longest year ever, but oddly, it seems to be going by fast too. As parents of school-aged kids, days are a blur while we all try our best to tackle each day one at a time.

We are missing our annual Halloween parade this week, but hope that each classroom is enjoying some special activities together. The 5th Graders have a special Halloween performance to share later this week. Keep an eye out—they have been working hard! I'd like to thank our Board and Daves Staff for helping put up some Halloween decorations for the kids for Picture Day today. I appreciate your help!

As we officially head into the holiday season, we want to find creative and safe ways to feel connected as a community. If you have ideas, please email the HSC Board. We need your help and creativity!

Take care,
Becky

Current positions open: The H&SC Board is looking for a new member ASAP to serve in the position of President-Elect. The President-Elect will be an invaluable member of the Board this year who will transition to H&SC President for the 2021-2022 school year, and then to Parliamentarian for the 2022-2023 school year. The ideal candidate will be a parent with children in the 3rd grade or younger, who wants to take on a leadership role at Daves Avenue supported by a great team! The role is absolutely open to working parents. Interested? Have more questions? Or know someone who may be a great candidate?
In addition, the Room Parent Coordinator position is also OPEN.
If any of the roles interests you, please email our Board Vice-President, Emma Garner.
