Volume 3 | Edition 18 | 2020-2021
January 6, 2021
Dear Families,

Welcome back to school! 2021 is off to a great start and I’m looking forward to our partnership moving forward to support all students. As you know, the LGUSD Board of Trustees has a meeting scheduled on Thursday, January 6, @ 4:00 P.M. During this meeting, the Board will be reviewing the current Reopening Plan and will determine if the plan is a “Go” or “No Go” after taking into consideration local data from the California Health Department, the Santa Clara County Office of Education, and recommendations from the State of California.

As your Principal, I am committed to relaying information as quickly and as transparently as possible. As Team LGUSD prepares to implement a Roomer & Zoomer model, professional development for teachers remains a top priority. For this reason, the virtual classroom schedule will be modified on the following dates. Please mark your calendars:

Modified Virtual Zoom Instruction In Preparation for Reopening School
Thursday, January 14-8:30-10:30 A.M.
Friday, January 15- 8:30-10:30 A.M.
Monday, January 18- No School (Martin Luther King Day)
Tuesday, January 19- 8:30-10:30 A.M.
Wednesday, January 20- 8:30-10:30 A.M.
Thursday, January 21- 8:30-10:30 A.M.
Friday, January 22- 8:30-10:30 A.M.

On January 11th, every teacher will inform families who have requested for their child to be a “Roomer” (participate in-person) which is projected to begin on January 25. This email will also include the cohort schedule for “Roomers” which will be either Cohort A (Monday/Tuesday) or Cohort B (Thursday/Friday). Every class will remain in-tact and all students will still be expected to participate five days per week.

In the words of Mrs. Diana Ross, “Ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough..”. This version of the classic tune doesn’t reveal the infamous line until four minutes into the song which feels like eternity when listening to it. While the pandemic continues to have a profound impact on us all, patience and perseverance will get us through.

In education together,

Support Staff Positions
We are working towards opening for in-person instruction. In order to support our schools and staff members, we are hiring additional staff to act as in-class aides to facilitate the “Rooming and Zooming” model, and to provide on-campus support. While we know many would be happy to volunteer their support, to ensure adequate training and provide consistency, we will hire the assistants. These positions will begin when in-person instruction classes begin. The details and how to apply are listed in the job posting.
