PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

August 18, 2021

Today is the fifth day of school and our campus continues to be full of JOY. Students and staff are adjusting to in-person instruction beautifully. Thank you for sending your child to school daily with a mask. Together, we can keep our community safe and healthy!

News this week:

Back to School Night is tomorrow! Details are listed below.
All 1st - 3rd grade families traveling by vehicle to school should enter the Daves Avenue Drive thru from Daves Avenue. After safely making a left or a right onto Poppy, a vehicle will be in the proper position to enter the Daves Drive-Thru.
All 4th and 5th grade families traveling by vehicle should enter the Poppy Drive Thru from Bruce Avenue. This will help traffic flow by appropriately turning right into the Poppy Drive Thru.
Attention 3rd grade families….students will still physically enter and exit at the Poppy gate. However, we would like to ask that 3rd grade families traveling in a vehicle use the Daves Avenue Drive-Thru for arrival and pick-up. Our hope is to help the flow of traffic.
Alternatively, please consider walking or riding to school to help keep all Cool Cats safe and our community happy!
Please remember by attending school you and your child(ren) are attesting to the fact that you can say no to the following questions:

Have you been diagnosed with or tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days?
Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours? ❐ Fever or chills ❐ Cough ❐ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing ❐ Muscle or body aches ❐ New loss of taste or smell ❐ Headache ❐ Sore throat ❐ Nausea/vomiting or diarrhea
Within the past 10 days, have you had close contact with someone who has been in isolation for COVID-19 or had a test confirming they had the virus? (Close contact is defined as less than 6 feet apart for 15 or more cumulative minutes with or without masks.)

If your answer is yes to any of the above listed questions, please contact Nurse Sheila at (408) 335-2074.
If your child exhibits any of the symptoms listed above, your child can return to school when:

They have a negative COVID test
They have had no fever for at least 24 hours without medication AND
Other symptoms have improved.

CHEETAHS RUNNING CLUB

The popular Daves Avenue Cheetahs Running Club is back for Fall 2021! Under the guidance of new coach, Jay Srivatsa, Cheetahs will train on the Daves Avenue track on Friday afternoons from 2:30-3:30pm. The Club is open to all 2nd-5th graders who love running (1st graders may be considered on an individual basis). The cost is $50/per student per season.

MEAL SERVICE INFORMATION

Both Breakfast and Lunch are complementary for all students and there is no need to preorder or sign up. We anticipate starting hot lunch services on Monday August 23, and continuing daily throughout the school year. The menu will be updated weekly on Wednesdays and will reflect the upcoming weekly menu based on produce availability. Sorry for any substitutions, but we have been experiencing some shortages in our orders. The menu is available at the LGUSD website Departments/Food Service/Food Menus.
