PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Daves Avenue Families,

Congratulations on a successful start to the school year! Our roster of students, parents, and Cool Cat Staff have been putting forth tremendous effort and we should all be proud!

Thank you to the families who joined the virtual Back to School Coffee today. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and welcome new Cool Cat families. If you were unable to join us, there will be many more opportunities this year to connect with each other.

If your family is affected by rolling blackouts, please don’t worry! We will make arrangements to share the important information as soon as possible. Also, if your child’s ability to connect to the virtual classroom is affected by power outages or technological difficulties such as a Wi-Fi outage, please simply call our attendance line at (408) 335-2245 and your student will be excused from class for that day.

Tomorrow night is the big event! Please see below for details regarding our virtual 2020 Back to School Night. Together, I know we will make this a spectacular year.

Despite lots of changes to our school events this year, we still need parent involvement and have some open positions remaining. Please take a look and see if any of these roles interest you and let me know so I can provide further information:

Yearbook Co-Chair

Additionally, we are looking for an amazing person to fill the 'President Elect' position on the H&SC Board as soon as possible!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT

Thursday, August 20th

6:00 - 6:40pm: TK/K - 2nd Grades

6:45 - 7:30pm: 3rd - 5th Grades

Please join our virtual Back-to-School Night! Watch presentations by Principal Jenna Mittleman and H&SC President Becky Tanner. Hear about how the H&SC and the Los Gatos Education Foundation together fund special programs and events at Daves Avenue through One Community LG.

Followed by separate, breakout virtual informational sessions with your child's teacher.

There will be much important information presented about Daves and teacher's plans for your child's class. You won't want to miss!

Your child's teacher will send a Zoom link prior to Back-to-School Night.

Together we are stronger.

This year LGEF, Music Boosters, and our five Home & School Clubs (Blossom Hill, Daves Avenue, Lexington, Van Meter and Fisher) have joined together to consolidate back-to-school fundraising into a single campaign.

Your contribution still goes to the same place it always has - directly to your school to fund vital programs and essential staff. We have simply streamlined the process to make it easier for you to donate once.

Our goal is 100% participation by all families - more than ever your school needs your support.
