QUICK LINKS
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Daves Avenue Families,

It’s another great week to be a Cool Cat! Important announcements this week include the following:

COVID-19
Please make sure to stay informed with all updated procedures and protocols which can be found on the LGUSD COVID Information Webpage. When there is a positive Covid case on campus, the individual class will be sent a close-contact exposure notification letter. A more brief school-wide non-close contact notification will still be sent to the school community. Any close-contact email supersedes a school-wide exposure notification.

Cell Phones & Smart Watches at School
This is a reminder that cell phones and Smart Watches are not allowed at school. This is our policy in the elementary schools and also at Fisher Middle School. We understand that some students have recently received these devices, so this reminder is timely. Please review our policy below. Moving forward, all teachers will remind students to place these items in backpacks. Thank you for helping us to reduce distractions to learning.

Daves Avenue Cell Phone & Smart Watch Policy
Students are permitted to bring cell phones to school provided the phone is turned off during school hours (8:15 A.M. - 2:38 P.M., Wednesday 8:15 A.M.- 12:15 P.M.) and kept in a backpack. While cell phones and Smart Watches can be an important tool for communication, they may not be worn during school hours. This includes texting, recording, and taking photos. Smart Watches may not be worn at school.
Consequences: Incident 1- Warning Incident 2- Parents will receive a call from the teacher and the phone or watch must be picked up from the front office.
Be Seen & Heard Assemblies~Parent Night on January 31
Erin’s Law requires schools to implement an age-appropriate sexual assault and abuse awareness and prevention curriculum for grades pre-K through 12. We are very pleased to share that Victor Pacini will be returning to our schools in February 2022 to deliver his program entitled, Be Seen and Heard© 2.0, a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program.
Mr. Pacini is an author, a motivational speaker, and a survivor of sexual abuse. The assembly program last year was very successful and positive. He will be back to help us implement this important mandate again this year.
The District will host a virtual parent night on January 31 for families to preview the assembly information. Parents can also watch this video to learn more about the program. Additional information will be shared next week.

Wishing you a PAWSitively healthy week!

Kindly,
Jenna Mittleman, Principal
