PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Daves Avenue Families, 

It’s an awesome week to be a Cool Cat! We had a wonderful assembly yesterday, Zun Zun, where students learned about watersheds and how to conserve water. Ask your child(ren) to sing you the “H20 Song”! We had a blast together!

Important news this week includes: 

2022-23 Kindergarten Update
We are excited to share our new Kindergarten Schedule for the 2022-2023 school year. Team LGUSD is thrilled to be offering this extended day schedule for our youngest learners!
 
All K-5 classes will begin at 8:10 A.M. and Kindergarten will be dismissed at 1:30 P.M. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Kindergarten students will be released at 11:55 A.M. on Wednesdays.
 
Please save the date for the upcoming Kindergarten Orientation on April 27 @ 1:00 P.M. in the Daves Avenue Multi-Purpose Room.
 
We are also excited to share that Lexington Elementary School will offer the LGUSD Transitional Kindergarten program in the fall and follow the International Baccalaureate framework. TK classes will begin at 8:10 A.M., but there will be a “soft start” for any families commuting from downtown. TK will also end at 1:30 P.M, except for Wednesdays when TK students will be dismissed at 11:40 A.M. There will be a TK Parent IB Information Night on April 6th, from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. at Lexington and a TK orientation on April 27th at 1:00 P.M.

LGUSD District-Wide Community Service Project: Hygiene Kits
Please turn in all donations by this Friday, April 1! Thank you for helping make this service project a success!

TK/Kindergarten- 1 pack of bandaids and 1 comb
1st Grade- 1 dental floss, 1 toothpaste, and 1 toothbrush
2nd Grade- 1 bar of soap and 1 hand sanitizer
3rd Grade- 1 chapstick and 1 travel size kleenex/tissues
4th Grade- 1 full size shampoo and 1 full size conditioner
5th Grade- 1 deodorant and 1 disposable razor
This Friday, April 1st, HSC members and parent volunteers will have a table in front of school selling tickets for our Tropic Nights. Please consider attending this special event for our amazing school! Mahalo!

Join us for a night out to celebrate Dave’s Ave Elementary School. The annual Cool Cat Auction is a time for our incredible community to gather and raise important funds for our school.

Join the Girls on the Run Team at Daves Avenue Elementary
What is Girls on the Run?
A life changing program for 3rd to 5th grade girls that promotes empowerment using fun games and physical activity.

Girl's on the Run's social-emotional curriculum teaches girls critical life skills, such as managing emotions, standing up for themselves, and others, and how to be a good friend, all while using running as a way to set goals, and increase their confidence!
