Dear Daves Avenue Families,
Today, I spoke to all our student community about being kind which IS in our control. We recited this Kindness Pledge and made a commitment to be our best selves as many in our nation are hurting right now. Our hearts go out to those in Uvalde, Texas. I want to reassure you that our staff prioritizes safety and the well being of all students. Please review the message that Superintendent Johnson sent today which includes resources for how to discuss this type of event with children in a developmentally appropriate way.

Today, Ms. Ryan Wend, successfully completed her Principal for a Day assignment. She was an absolute rockstar and gave our whole school an extra five minutes of recess for filling our Character Counts bucket! Way to go, Cool Cats! As students entered and exited the virtual assembly today, we listened to the song “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles which seemed to be a perfect choice for the day. Congratulations to Principal Wend and our PAWS Club Hall of Fame for May!

Thank you to our amazing HSC Executive Board, parent volunteers, teacher volunteers, and all of Team 4th Grade for helping to make the end-of-year celebration last Friday such a HUGE succes! Thank you to all families for showing the love to our AMAZING staff over the last few weeks and a special thank you to the Jackson Family for hosting a staff luncheon this afternoon. For all parents who helped to plan the celebration, we are so grateful! All grade levels are busy with joyful celebrations, plays, field trips, and more this week. Please mark your calendars and remember that Wednesday, June 1st and Thursday, June 2nd are both early dismissal days.
As we wind down the school year, I’m going to pay forward a sentiment that Mr. Ethan shared with Room 25 students and families today: let’s continue to Love with a capital L. This includes Love at home, at school, and in the community. Our students are counting on us.
With Love with a capital L,

HWY 17 OVERCROSSING PROJECT
|
|
Safety Improvements to Blossom Hill Road Coming Soon!
As parents, you know that crossing over Highway 17 on the Blossom Hill Road bridge is a bit daunting for our students as they travel to and from school. Fortunately, the Town of Los Gatos is proposing a separate bridge structure exclusively for bicycle and pedestrian use. This project, Highway 17 Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, also includes a protected pathway that stretches from Roberts Road East to Roberts Road West (see attached figure). We are excited about the improved safety conditions this represents for Fisher Middle School students! Learn more about this effort at www.losgatosca.gov/2556/Hwy-17-Bicycle-Pedestrian-Overcrossing

The LGHS Class of 2022 Parents Invite You to Senior Grad Night Community Walk Thru!
|
|
The community is invited to the Los Gatos High School Grad Night and Senior Museum walk-thru on Friday, June 3rd. The Grad Night celebration event space will be open to the public from 4:00pm to 8:30pm, and the Senior Museum until 9:00pm. For more than 30 years Grad Night has been planned and run by the parents of the senior class to ensure a safe, sober evening for their children after graduation. Hundreds of parents transform the school’s gyms and parking lots for the all night celebration. The theme is always kept under wraps until the last minute. The self guided tours are for adults and children 5th grade and younger. Middle school and high school students are invited to tour the Senior Museum but not the Grad Night areas. We look forward to hosting you!
