PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Hello Daves Avenue Families, 

It’s a great day to be a Cool Cat! This morning we had our monthly Wednesday Wave Assembly. Our elected student council officers and classroom representatives were acknowledged and we reviewed expectations regarding student behavior during recess and lunch. We also discussed the importance of using play equipment appropriately including jump ropes and hula hoops. Students from each grade level came to the microphone, introduced themselves, and gave a shout out because kindness matters! Please ask your child(ren) how they can earn character cards at school! These lucky Cool Cats earned character cards and their names were chosen in today’s monthly drawing!
We have many events on the horizon including a virtual movie night 0n October 15, a Fun Run for students on October 27, Fall picture day for students on October 28, and a Halloween parade on October 29. Parents will be invited to watch the Halloween Parade from the Daves Avenue and Poppy parking lots. More information to come!

Fall Conferences and minimum days will be the week of November 1-5 in LGUSD. In order to best support students, parents, and support staff, we are looking forward to offering in-person and Zoom conferences. We realize that Zoom conferences allow greater flexibility for working parents to attend a conference and we are happy to support that. We also realize the value of in-person meetings. Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon for you to express your preference for an in-person or remote conference.

FUN RUN EVENT 10/27/21
FOOD SERVICE UPDATE
Thank you for your support of the universal meal program. This program is provided free of charge to all students through Federal grants and does not require any signup. Since the beginning of the school year we have begun serving over 1800 meals per day. This is a new program for our staff and we have had some challenges securing supplies and meeting the published menus. We have been improving each week and expect, with your patience and participation, to move toward more scratch cooked meals with fresh ingredients.
