As September comes to a close, I would like to thank the Daves Avenue Community for helping our school year get off to a phenomenal start!

of Daves Avenue Families have participated in One Community LG!
This means 52% of our community still has time to support onecommunitylg.org in a meaningful way at a level that your family can afford. There are even options where a contribution can be divided into monthly contributions. Our goal is to reach 100% participation! We can do this!

5th Grade SPOTLIGHT
JOY is abundant as 5th-grade students engage in hands-on activities. Mr. Ducker, Mr. McCullough, and Mr. White are leading the charge with Salt Dough Projects to help students gain an increased awareness of physical features of the land of the United States!

Borrow a Chromebook and Wi-Fi Hotspots
Do you have a student who needs access to a Chromebook or Wi-Fi at home? LGUSD has a limited number of Chromebooks and Wi-Fi hotspots available to loan for students who would otherwise lack connected devices and/or broadband connections sufficient to fully engage in learning at home. We want to ensure access is available, especially if a student needs to quarantine at home. If you would like to request a Chromebook or Wi-Fi hotspot, please click here to complete this Daves Avenue Loaner Request Form.
Have a PAWSitively awesome week!
Kind regards,

Thank You from One Community LG!
One Community LG, on behalf of the Daves Avenue Home & School Club and LGEF, thanks the families who have donated to our One Community LG Campaign for the 2021-2022 school year.
To date, Daves families have contributed $69,605 to the Daves Avenue Home & School Club - funding school supplies, technology, STEAM programs and supplies, student enrichment, and community building events. Our families have also contributed $179,870 to LGEF - funding counselors as well as art, music, library and PE teachers at Daves. 48% of Daves Avenue families have already participated in the One Community LG Campaign.
If you have not yet contributed, please consider contributing at any level before our campaign ends this Friday, October 1st. All contributions are welcomed and appreciated as our goal is 100% parent participation. You can pledge now if you wish to defer your contribution to a later date, or choose a monthly payment plan. Also, many companies will match your contribution. Double the Match lists companies that generously offer matching programs.
To contribute, please visit One Community LG. Thank you again for helping to continue our amazing programs and level of excellence at Daves Avenue.

Did you know that One Community LG, through the LGEF, funds our elementary music teachers, Ana George, Alyson Ancheta, Aryn Krijnen, and Corey Miller? Our music program introduces general music principals and theory as well as fosters a love of music in all our students. The Daves Avenue Home & School provides the funds to Music Boosters to purchase the musical instruments used in grades K-4 and the music curriculum software, Quaver, used by all students.
- Kindergarten students concentrate on music and movement.
- First and second graders focus on sounds, counting, and singing.
- Third grade students have the opportunity to learn the recorder.
- Fourth graders become familiar with the ukulele.
-
Fifth graders are offered a choice of flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, violin, cello, voice or percussion. This prepares our students for the many Middle School music options that are open to our students. Music Boosters maintains the rental instruments available to fifth graders.
Ask your child to tell you about what they songs they practiced this week in their music class. To find out more about what your contributions to One Community LG will benefit, please visit onecommunitylg.org.

Thank you for your support of the universal meal program. This program is provided free of charge to all students through Federal grants and does not require any signup. Since the beginning of the school year we have begun serving over 1800 meals per day. This is a new program for our staff and we have had some challenges securing supplies and meeting the published menus. We have been improving each week and expect, with your patience and participation, to move toward more scratch cooked meals with fresh ingredients.
The menu is updated each week and the link is Menu Link.
