PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Greetings Families!

The first few days of school were filled with great enthusiasm and smiling faces. The New Family Picnic, New Parent Orientation, Ice Cream Social, and Parent Coffee, were all successful events due to the wonderful Home & School Club and parent volunteers at Daves Avenue. For those of you who helped to make these events a success, thank you!

The Cool Cat staff are committed to nurturing and supporting the social and emotional well-being and academic excellence for all students. The faculty’s commitment to create this caring climate will require your support. Communication between parents and staff is paramount. If you ever have a question or concern you need to share about your child, please contact your child’s teacher. Additionally, I take great pride in supporting healthy relationships on campus and would be happy to speak with you as well. Please don’t hesitate to contact me by email, phone, or a handwritten note. Direct and open communication are key elements to building trust and enhancing the Daves Avenue community.

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday for our Back-to-School Night . Please reference the schedule below. Have a terrific week!

Kind regards,

We are thrilled to introduce you to Rance Hodge Jr. , our onsite One Yard Coach. Rance will be on site every day encouraging our kids to have positive, inclusive interactions at recess and lunch. Next time you’re on campus please take a moment to say hi to the newest member of our Daves Avenue community. Thank your for making this amazing program possible through your generous donations to  DOLLARS FOR DAVES!

Hi Daves Family,

My name is Rance Hodge Jr. I will be helping lead the One Yard Recess program at Daves Avenue Elementary.

My experience working with youth and sports has spanned the course of 10 years. One Yard is a K-8 youth and recess development program geared toward helping youth in school communities find their inner leadership qualities through sports and physical education.

I have coached a multitude of sports ranging from lacrosse, rugby, basketball, football, hockey, soccer etc. I am here this year to, not only ensure our students a fun and safe recess experience, but also work with them to be leaders at home and in their communities. I am committed to sacrificing all I can to make this program a success not only this year but for years to come.

I look forward to meeting everyone and making an impact with the students and staff here in Los Gatos.

Thank you,
Rance Hodge Jr.

This involves all aspects of a big event – marketing, auction solicitation and management, volunteer recruitment, music, venue procurement, food selection, and decorating. This is a fun event – not to be missed.

Hi, my name is  Neha Chugh  and together with Michéle Pullens we will be coordinating the FunVisor Program this year at Daves.

FunVisors is a lunchtime program that is open to ALL kids from 1st to 5th grade. We offer a variety of activities such as bottom scooters, jump ropes, ball games, carnival games , clay days, scavenger hunts, painting, arts and crafts, Legos and MORE! The purpose of the FunVisor program is that ALL kids have an activity to enjoy during lunch.

We are a part of Project Cornerstone and will have activities that bring the ABC lessons from the classroom to the playground.

The FunVisor program is offered everyday except Wednesday.

Volunteer time: 11:45 am – 1 pm
Volunteer schedule: Super flexible. You can participate as much or as little as you’d like. You can volunteer on the playground weekly, share an alternative schedule, participate on special event days or help out on rainy days... whatever fits your schedule best. Younger siblings are welcome!

Kids really enjoy the FunVisors program and to begin the year off strong, we need YOU!
If you can dedicate some of your time to help us enhance the caring environment at school please join the FunVisor team. Please consider signing up by clicking here.

Also, save the date for FunVisor Orientation/Training on Sep 6, 8:30 am in the MPR .
