How long have you been a BAMA member? I have personally been involved with BAMA for many years however CardioCommand, Inc. has been a member of BAMA for 11 years.

What do you like most about being a BAMA member? What I like most about BAMA is it provides a forum to connect with other manufacturing industry professionals whom I can collaborate with on industry and community challenges.

Tell us about your company. CardioCommand, Inc. (http://cardiocommand.com) specializes in the development and manufacture of consumable medical products, advanced electronic cardiac monitoring devices, and pacing equipment. As an FDA-registered manufacturer, CardioCommand produces Class I, II, and III medical devices, and provides ISO 13485 certified Contract Manufacturing Services (CMS). We are also the proud manufacturers of petMAP (https://petmap.com) portable veterinary monitors.

FloridaMakes is an exhibitor at this year’s Florida Medical Device Symposium on May 15-16, 2024 at the Hilton St Petersburg Carillon Park. Florida is “home to the nation’s second-largest medical device manufacturing industry,” as reported in the 2023 Florida Manufacturing Report.

Bay Area Manufacturers Association and FloridaMakes support this important national symposium being hosted by our partners at the Florida Medical Manufacturers Consortium. Our very own Kevin Carr will be providing the luncheon keynote address.

Background:

As part of their ongoing outreach to U.S. stakeholders, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Intellectual Property (IP) Attaché Program will be in the Orlando region the week of May 15th. This roundtable will include IP Attachés based in Brussels, Brazil, India and China, as well as the Acting Director for the IP Attaché Program.

IP Attachés are U.S. diplomats assigned to U.S. embassies, consulates, or missions abroad. They provide free services to U.S. IP rightsholders. Attachés work to improve IP systems internationally by working with foreign agencies and courts, and directly assisting U.S. stakeholders by providing information and helping them to navigate foreign laws and regulations.

·    Gil Burlew, Advanced Manufacturing & Production Instructor, Manatee Technical College, Bradenton, FL will receive the 2024 Distinguished Manufacturing Post-Secondary Educator-of-the-Year Award 

·    Pauline Sevigny, President & Owner, GRACE Aerospace, LLC will receive the 2024 Distinguished Manufacturing Partner Service Award 

·    Most Innovative Manufacturing Month Student Event Award Winners (tie for 1st):

Business owners learned how to avoid common state tax oversights that could lead to extremely costly penalties and interest related to noncompliance. Opportunities to improve cash flow by identifying sales tax exemptions for manufacturers were also discussed.
