| | Women Moving The Needle Forward: Ms. Ann’s Journey | |
Ann White, affectionately known as Ms. Ann, has been a cornerstone of the Montbello community for decades. Born Queen Esther, a name that signified strength from a matrilineal lineage, Ms. Ann set out to be a woman who carried not only herself but her family forward.
In 1965, with the strength of generations, Ms. Ann moved to Colorado with her five children, seeking better opportunities for her disabled daughter. Adjusting to the harsh winters was challenging, but with the support of family, she built a stable life. She began her career at Lockheed Martin, assembling electrical systems for satellites, before transitioning to the Colorado Department of Labor, where she spent 30 years helping residents navigate workforce challenges.
As a founding member and the current executive director of Montbello 2020, Ms. Ann has played a pivotal role in workforce initiatives and community development. Her life is a testament to resilience, service, and a steadfast commitment to uplifting others. Ms. Ann is a case study in women moving the needle forward. In August, you can show appreciation and further support Ms. Ann and her legacy in Monbello by supporting Montbello 2020 Back to School Backpack give away Community Event on August 9th 2025.

Tip of the Month: Reach Out to a Friend
| |
In a close-knit community like Montbello, looking out for one another is essential. If you're worried about a friend, don’t hesitate to reach out. A simple text or call to say, “Hey, I’ve been thinking about you. How are you doing?” can mean the world and provide much needed support. If they seem distant or are struggling, offer to meet for coffee or a walk. Listening without judgment creates a safe space for them to open up.
If more support is warranted, gently encourage your friend to seek help, whether from family, a faith leader, or a professional. Remind them they’re not alone. In Montbello, we thrive when we stand together! Your small act of kindness could make all the difference in someone’s life.
If you or a friend need help or someone to talk with, please visit Montbello Solutions to learn more about therapists, groups and resources in our community.
Check in. Reach out. Be a Friend.

The District 11 Town Hall was more than a meeting, it was a testament to the power of community. Bringing residents, city agencies, and partners together fostered open dialogue, collaboration, and resource-sharing.
One of the most impactful aspects was having residents feel seen and heard. When people voice concerns, share experiences, and contribute to solutions, the entire community benefits. These gatherings are not just about information, they strengthen relationships and ensure accountability from leaders.
Town halls reinforce that change starts locally. The connections made, knowledge shared, and commitments voiced at the District 11 Town Hall serve as stepping stones toward a stronger Montbello. By coming together, we amplify voices, uplift one another, and create a more united, engaged community.
