Downtown Main Street Closure
Friday Feb. 28 (8 PM) - Monday, March 2 (5 AM)

A portion of Main Street will be closed in Downtown Buda.  Main Street between San Antonio Street and China Street is expected to close beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 and will re-open by 5 a.m. on Monday, March 2. This includes the intersection of Main Street and RM 967. TxDOT’s Contractor, Lonestar Sitework, will conduct mill and overlay work on Main Street during this time. In the event of inclement weather, plans are subject to change.

  • Main Street will be closed from San Antonio Street all the way to China Street. This means no on-street parking between these areas and no access to the parking lot near the water tower.
  • Traffic will be diverted to San Marcos Street from San Antonio Street, but Austin Street will remain open.
  • Side streets will remain open, so access to parking areas located on Elm, Ash, Peach, and south of China will be open.
  • Downtown visitors will be able to park in the lot near Inspired Minds Art Center, but it will only be accessible via Houston Street.
  • Pedestrians should use crosswalks located outside of the construction zone. The crosswalk at RM 967 and Main Street will be closed.
  • Truck traffic should use the FM 2770 detour.

The Good News

Once this phase of the project is complete, the intersection, including the southbound lane of Main Street will reopen while work continues. The project is still on schedule to finish by spring.

Message From the Mayor: Downtown Construction
Mayor George Haehn loves taking a stroll in Historic Downtown Buda. While construction can make things a little more challenging, Mayor Haehn is asking that you continue to support our Buda businesses impacted by the ongoing work. The improvement project is expected to be finished this spring.
Sequoyah Street Closure at Main Street Intersection
Monday, March 2 - Monday, March 9
As part of the ongoing Main Street Improvement Project, a small portion of Sequoyah Street at the intersection of Main will be closed in both directions from Monday, March 2 to Monday, March 9. This is due to construction on the southern side of the intersection and roadway. Drivers will NOT be able to turn on to Main Street from Sequoyah or on to Sequoyah from Main Street. Main Street will remain open in both directions.
City of Buda Accepting Applications
For Boards and Commissions
A citizen’s point of view provides valuable insight into the operations of the City’s and Council's decision-making process. The job of Board and Commission members is crucial to the success of Buda's representative government. The Buda City Council is accepting completed application forms from City of Buda citizens interested in serving on one of our various boards and commissions. Deadline to apply is March 31, 2020.

City of Buda
Annual Prayer Breakfast
The City of Buda had its annual prayer breakfast Wedensday at Twin Oaks Ranch. We love doing this every year! A special thanks to Twin Oaks Ranch for providing the space and to Helen's Casa Alde for providing the food.
Transportation and Mobility Master Plan
The City of Buda is developing a Transportation and Mobility Master plan. The goal is to improve safety and travel, reflect community values, and enhance the character of the area.

Buda Counts: Census 2020
By April 1, 2020, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Accurate counts impact federal funding levels and representation in the state and federal level.

For more information on the 2020 Census and the importance of being counted, please visit  2020census.gov or www.ci.buda.tx.us/budacounts .

The Buda City Council has established a Complete Count Committee (CCC) for the City of Buda. CCC's are volunteer committees whose purpose is to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the 2020 Census.
