Buda City Facilities - Change in Operating Procedure
|
Due to the escalating rise of active COVID-19 cases in Hays County, the City of Buda is adjusting its operating procedures. Staring Monday, June 29, Buda City facilities will be conducting business virtually on Monday and Friday until further notice. This means there will be no walk-ins, with all business being done via telephone and computer. City facilities will be open for public access on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The City of Buda will continue to monitor this evolving situation and make further adjustments if needed.

The Buda Public Library will be open 11:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Thursday and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Public computers will be available to library card holders by appointment; call for details. Curbside pickup will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Library staff will be available by phone from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Saturday. For more information on library services please visit

Additional ways to make utility payments include online through your bank, over the phone at 512-295-8845, and by mail to 405 E. Loop St., Building 100, Buda, Texas. Customers can also utilize the utility payment drop boxes at the front entrance of the building and near the library book drop. The utility billing e-mail that residents should use to communicate with utilities is
utilitybilling@ci.buda.tx.us
. We are also now offering
online bill pay
to pay your utility bill. You will be directed to a third party secure external site. You have the option to pay now, schedule a payment and enroll in Auto Pay. There is a $0.85 fee for paying online.

Although City facilities will be conducting business virtually on Monday and Friday, Buda City Hall will be accessible for early voting in the 2020 July Primary Runoff. Early Voting runs from June 29 to July 10.

Red, White & Buda Fireworks Shows
|
Due to COVID-19 concerns we are doing things a little differently this year for Red, White & Buda. While there will be no morning parade or other activities, we will still have a fireworks show. In fact, we are having two shows! Fireworks will be launched from Buda Sportsplex and City Park on July 4th between 9:15 PM and 9:30 PM. For your safety and to ensure social distancing, there will be no parking available to view the fireworks at these locations. City Park and Buda Sportsplex will be closed to the public. We encourage you to watch the fireworks from home or from a safe location where social distancing is observed.

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra has issued a new executive order, effective Monday, June 22, that requires face coverings be worn in public.
Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra issued a new COVID-related executive Order effective today, June 22, that, among other provisions, requires face coverings be worn in public in Hays County. Based on questions received from the public, media, municipalities and local businesses, Hays County compiled the following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to help clarify and provide guidance about the Order. We have included the link below.

Governor Greg Abbott announced that the State of Texas will pause any further phases to open Texas as the state responds to the recent increase in positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. Businesses that are permitted to open under the previous phases can continue to operate at the designated occupancy levels and under the minimum standard health protocols provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
“As we experience an increase in both positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, we are focused on strategies that slow the spread of this virus while also allowing Texans to continue earning a paycheck to support their families,” said Governor Abbott. “The last thing we want to do as a state is go backwards and close down businesses. This temporary pause will help our state corral the spread until we can safely enter the next phase of opening our state for business. I ask all Texans to do their part to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a mask, washing their hands regularly, and socially distancing from others. The more that we all follow these guidelines, the safer our state will be and the more we can open up Texas for business.”

Governor Abbott Expands Local Authority On Outdoor Gatherings, Directs HHSC To Enact Emergency Rules To Increase Safety At Child Care Centers
|
As COVID-19 cases rise in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has expanded the ability of mayors and county judges to impose restrictions on outdoor gatherings of over 100 people. Previously, this applied only to outdoor gatherings over 500 people. The Governor has also directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to enact emergency rules that provide strict health and safety standards and procedures related to COVID-19 for child care centers in Texas. These two actions are based on data showing an increase in COVID-19 transmission stemming from large gatherings and child care centers.
“These are just some of the steps Texas will take to contain the rise in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations,” said Governor Abbott. “Today’s proclamation and emergency rules will aid in that effort in two key ways: allowing restrictions on large gatherings where COVID-19 is easily spread and implementing a statewide standard of infection control for child care centers. However, as we face this challenge, there is no substitute for personal responsibility. I urge all Texans to do everything in their power to reduce the transmission of the coronavirus by wearing a face mask, washing their hands often, and staying six-feet apart from others.”

An online dashboard created by City of San Marcos provides the public with a current count and other statistics related to COVID-19 cases in Hays County in near real-time.
The data on the dashboard shows a snapshot of COVID-19 related information for the County, as well as the number of active and recovered cases per City.
For example, the public can see the current number of confirmed cases as of that day. The data includes the cases considered active or in recovery, along with the number of tests administered. The data is also available in map format.

Pet Registration Information

Due to COVID-19, Buda Animal Control is taking some extra precautions to make it easier and safer for you to register your pet. If you need to have a microchip implanted you MUST first schedule an appointment then complete the required forms and submit all required documentation at least two days before your scheduled appointment. Once you arrive please remain in your vehicle and call 512-523-1034 and let us know that you are out front. The microchip and registration is free through September 30 and registration will be for the lifetime of the pet. You will need to keep vaccinations up to date.
Per City Ordinance, all animals over the age of four (4) months must be implanted with a microchip and registered with the City of Buda.
