Buda City Hall has 4 numbered curbside spaces set aside in the parking lot. Please call 512-393-7310 when you are here and an election officer will bring an e-Slate electronic voting device to you at your vehicle. Let them know that you are Buda City Hall. If you have signs or symptoms of COVID-19 please consider curbside voting.

Why is there only one early voting center in Buda? The Hays County Elections Office tells us that the polling locations were recommended by the citizens committee that was appointed by municipalities, school districts, commissioners and minority representatives and organizations. They recommended locations based on availability to host the entire early voting period. Most locations are not able to have voting for two or three weeks. In addition in November Elections, polling locations must be assigned by commissioner precinct and not by municipality. Texas Election Code ensures that polling locations are balanced among commissioner Precincts in November elections.

City Park Update: Thank you for your patience during the continued construction of Buda City Park. It is the joint interest and objective of the City and the general contractor to ensure our new park is functional, safe, and compliant with all requirements for the enjoyment of residents for years to come. The Cityโ€™s priority is to ensure the project is complete and fully ready for the enjoyment of events, play, and outdoor leisure activities prior to opening the park to the public. There are still crucial items that need to be completed before the 51-acre park can safely open. This includes structural and electrical work, along with the required code and design compliance inspections. The general contractor has not met the terms of substantial completion which has led to delays in the project. The City of Buda is working diligently with the contractor to ensure the remaining items are completed.

Buda City Park is the City's only regional park. Regional parks are intended to serve the entire city and very often are considered the premier park in a community. Historically, City Park has hosted several popular events, including the City's annual "Red, White & Buda" Independence Day celebration. While this year has made it difficult to hold traditional events due to COVID-19, we look forward to attracting festivals, concerts, and other activities as we move into 2021 and beyond. We are looking forward to the safe opening of the new and improved City Park!
Have you taken the City of Buda Online Community Survey yet? We want to hear from you! The City of Buda has partnered with Texas State University to conduct an online community survey to gauge satisfaction on City services and to seek input on future initiatives of the City. Residents may complete the survey by visiting www.ci.buda.tx.us/residentsurvey. The online survey will be open through Sunday, Oct. 25. We value your input. The City has chosen to work with Texas State University to keep your responses anonymous and ensure the City and Council receive an unbiased overview of your feedback which assists in the strategic planning and budgeting processes for the City. Thank you for your time and participation.
Hit and Run Investigation
The Buda Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident which resulted in the death of 67-year-old Viola Garcez.

On Saturday, October 10, 2020, officers were dispatched to 15300 IH 35, Buda, TX (also known as HEB) for a motor vehicle vs pedestrian traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers learned Viola Garcez was struck in the middle of the crosswalk by a male subject driving a grey Chevrolet Silverado which had fled the scene heading south bound on the frontage road. Hays County Dispatch was provided with an update of the vehicleโ€™s direction of travel and Kyle Police Department was able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. The suspect, identified as Jeffrey Conzemius (58), was charged with Accident Involving Death and transported to the Hays County Jail. Ms. Garcez was transported by EMS to Seton Hays Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy was performed and the stated preliminary cause of death was โ€œmultiple traumatic injuriesโ€.

This case is still under investigation so if you have any information you believe is beneficial, please contact Detective Dustin Maxwell at (512) 523-1045.
Governor Abbott Issues Executive Order

Additionally, businesses like amusement parks, movie theaters, zoos, aquariums, and bowling alleys can expand to 75% capacity in counties with low COVID-19 hospitalizations โ€ชbeginning October 14.

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra will allow bars to reopen under Governor Greg Abbottโ€™s latest COVID-related Executive Order based in part on feedback from local elected officials.

Stage 1 Water Restrictions
Effective Monday, Aug. 24, 2020
Effective Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, Stage 1 Water Restrictions will go into effect for City of Buda water customers in accordance with the Cityโ€™s adopted Water Resource Management and Drought Response Ordinance. This is due to the lack of consistent precipitation, and higher than normal demands on our water production system.

Under Stage 1, irrigation with hose-end (sprinkler attached to a hose) and automatic sprinkler systems is restricted to twice per week. Irrigation with handheld bucket, handheld hose, soaker hose, or drip irrigation system is allowed any day and at any time. Violation of the ordinance could result in a fine of up to $2,000 per offense and a surcharge on the customerโ€™s utility bill.

Hope4 Hays County Veterans Program
(Information Taken From Hays County Press Release)

The Hays County Veterans Service Office has created the โ€œHope4 Hays County Veteransโ€ program for U.S. military veterans and surviving spouses.

Hays County Veteran Service Officer Jude Prather said the program is designed to help with past due rent, mortgage, utilities or car payments, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans Assistance.

โ€œItโ€™s important we help our former military brothers and sisters,โ€ Prather said. โ€œThis program will be a bridge to help our veterans and their families. When we served, we watched each otherโ€™s backs. During these difficult times, the Hope4 program will continue that legacy.โ€

Retired Air Force 1st Sergeant Wesley Matthews, M.S.W from the Hays County Veteran Service Office will manage this assistance program while also connecting veterans to other services available for them and their families.

โ€œOur goal is to offer hope to Hays County Veterans while supplying them with solutions, a workable budget, and plan moving forward,โ€ Matthews said.

For information or to request assistance, please email wesley.matthews@co.hays.tx.us.
