Chase and Skye from Paw Patrol joined Principal Mary Wood and Superintendent Allison Brown to welcome incoming students at the annual Heights Kindergarten Bus Orientation on Wednesday, August 24th. Children and their parents had the opportunity to meet their bus drivers and learn important safety information.
Superintendent's Conference Days were held August 29-30, 2022. Roslyn Board of Education President Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy and Superintendent Allison Brown welcomed the entire faculty and staff back to the district to kick off the new school year. The featured speaker on Tuesday was Rohan Murphy from Islip, Long Island, who overcame his physical disability to compete in wrestling, graduate from Penn State, and star in a Nike commercial. Today he travels the country as a motivational speaker. He shared his personal journey and talked about the importance of overcoming obstacles.
NEW ROLES AND APPOINTMENTS
Roslyn School District is delighted to announce several changes in key administrative staff for the 22-23 school year. Jennifer Sheehan, former assistant principal at Roslyn Middle School has taken the position of assistant principal at East Hills Elementary School. Filling the role of assistant principal at Roslyn Middle School is Melissa Hornik. Isaac Neal will assume the position of Dean of Students at Roslyn High School, where he will oversee student services and on-campus activities. RMS STUDENT WINS FIRST PLACE IN ART CONTEST
Roslyn Middle School student Navya Gupta won first place for her age group in the Erase the Stigma Creative Art Contest, sponsored by the Northwell School of Mental Health. The theme of the art contest was Positive Messages for Mental Health. Its purpose was to highlight mental health as an essential part of overall health and provide a creative space for students to share their voices.
Completed over the summer, the state of the art lab room is equipped with 24 student terminals featuring Bloomberg Terminal software and an interactive Market Wall. Link
Roslyn’s Homecoming Day on Saturday, September 24, 2022, was the culmination of Spirit Week—a weeklong spirit building initiative designed to build excitement for the big game. Daily clothing themes—like pajama, tie-dye, and super hero clothing—were encouraged throughout the district.
On Thursday, September 22nd, the Organization of Class Council (OCC), members of the football and cheerleading teams, and the Roslyn Marching Band toured each elementary school to entertain the children with spirited pep rallies. The young students were especially excited to see the Roslyn Bulldog mascot!
Roslyn High School hosted a pep rally on the football field on Friday, September 23rd. Students, faculty, and staff filled the bleachers to watch performances by the Roslyn Marching Band and the Roslyn High School Cheerleaders.
Saturday kicked off with the annual pancake breakfast at 11AM in the RHS cafeteria—served up by Roslyn administrators and staff.
At 12:15PM, parade participants from across the district stepped off from the front entrance of Roslyn High School, marched through Roslyn Village, and made their way to the high school football field. They were accompanied by members of the Roslyn Board of Education, Superintendent Allison Brown, building administrators, and the Roslyn bulldog mascot.
