Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. – John 14:27

In the coming week we will enter the season of Lent, which in the church is a time for prayer and soul-searching. I call on all our congregations to intercede for the people of Ukraine, and for the leaders in the world, who have the power to bring an end to war. I call on all our congregations to pray and fast for reconciliation and peace in the world. May God, in His grace, open our eyes to the things that make for peace, may He protect us all from the escalation and spreading of war, and may we follow Him on His path of truth and peace. Read more.

Missions & Community Engagement
Virtual Missions
While the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many to feel isolated, it has also connected us with our missionaries in new ways. Technology has enabled relationships to be strengthened virtually. During Lent, we welcome the opportunity to hear missionaries reflect upon the East Ohio Annual Conference theme of Let Us Live Love with scripture from 1 John 4:7-12 (NIV). We will learn about where missionaries are serving and their celebrations of 2021 and goals in 2022. You are invited to re-use their messages with children, youth, small groups and during worship.
Support Love Beyond Borders This Lent and Easter
United Methodist churches throughout East Ohio are invited to partner with missionaries by designating their Lent and Easter offerings to the new UMCOR Advance #3022671 that supports the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines.

Day of Renewal for Active Clergy

Saturday, April 2
9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” - Matthew 11:28-30 (NRSV)

Bishop Tracy S. Malone invites all East Ohio Conference clergy actively serving in ministry to come together for a day of rest and renewal from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at Faith UMC (300 9th St. NW, North Canton, 44720).

Clergy are serving and leading in stressful, exhausting, and difficult times. This Clergy Day Apart, designed by a team of active clergy, is an opportunity to feed your soul through reinvigorating worship, fellowship, self-care, and conversation. Clergy will hear an empowering message from the Rev. Twanda Prioleau ( Christ UMC in East Baltimore, MD) and will participate in engaging breakout sessions designed to help you reflect, reconnect, re-center, and revel in your ministry. Rev. Prioleau is author of the book Breathe: A Pastor’s Journey to Wholeness. Clergy are asked to register online by Friday, March 18.
