L.A. Board of Supervisors Approves Ballot Measure to Defund Public Safety Despite Legal Challenges
Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Today, the L.A. County Board of Supervisors, on a vote of 4-1 with Supervisor Barger casting the sole “no” vote, moved forward with plans to place a ballot measure on the November ballot to shift 10% of the County General Fund, or “Net County Cost,” revenues to community-based organizations.

Local 685, together with the Coalition of Probation Unions, opposed the measure on strong legal grounds. Click here for a copy of our letter to the Board of Supervisors. We were joined in opposition by ALADS , the California Contract Cities Association , the L.A. County Division of the League of Cities , and many more.

We believe that this measure is unlawful and we intend to join forces with L.A. labor to fight for our rights!

Sincerely,

Hans Liang
